Low sugar/low fat???

O.K. so how do you actually do this? If you are chosing a higher protein lifestyle, low carbs, low calorie, and then comes the question..of low fat.
Usually foods that are labeled LOW FAT have MORE sugar!! Wouldnt that be an issue? How do you chose when it comes to those items? Like lower fat salad dressing for example, more sugar. Zero sugar will most likely have MORE fat.
Has anyone questioned this/dealt with this issue??
