Psychotherapist who gets this whole thing?
So, I'm planning on having surgery soon, and I'm beginning to realize that I need to see a therapist. I am pretty neurotic about food (hah, imagine that!) and I can see that there's going to be a whole psychological component to this that I'm going to need help with.
Has anyone seen someone they'd recommend? My surgeon is in NYC (I'm having the duodenal switch, so can't have surgery locally, unfortunately), so I am not connected to a bariatric program here; I know they usually do have psychologists on staff, but don't know where to start. I'd love any advice or recommendations - thank you so much!

The psych person I spoke with at Newton-Wellesley Hospital seemed like she specializes in this area - Her name is Mary Gorman and I believe she has a practice outside the bariatric surgery clinic. She told me that she sees many patients from another area clinic that doesn't have their own psyc staff (funny, that's why I didn't go with that program).
I have my own therapist who I think is great and is helping me a lot with my food issues, but her specialty is abuse - though she covers most areas well. If you'd like her info, you can PM me.
