Back from Brighams Information Session

I went to the information session at Brigham’s and women’s hospital.  It was a very informative session.  Everything that the doctor discussed applies to Faulkner hospital.  These are some highlights I through might be good for others who are considering Brigham’s to know.

1. There is a 500.00 fee that is out of pocket.  Insurance does not pay this.  2. Harvard pilgrim/blue cross (without exclusions) are very good to work with for approval. 3. There is a protein shake diet before diet two weeks before your surgery date. 4. Brigham’s has never had a death with Lap Band 5. If it is smooth sailing it takes about 8 weeks. This is all I can remember so far.

Just thought I'd let you know I had my surgery done by David Lautz from the Brigham, but done at Falkner. It was a great experience, and much easier than the Brigham. I find the Brigham very overwelming(not being from the city). The rooms are all private and the staff were great. I am a nurse so I was watching everything. Good Luck. I'm glad I did it

I already scheduled an appointment with Dr. Vernon.  I will call to see if she operates out of Faulkner.  I couldn't get an appointment until July 14.  I am happy with that.  I got an information packet from Tufts.  It must me 10 pages long.  I have a question, Should I schedule psy, and other appointment now.  I have the summer off and would like to complete this before september.

I am a Dr vernon patient too...After you see her ,her assistant Jennifer will set up all the rest of the appointments for you...Psyche, ultrasound, nutrition and whatever else you need.  I jumped the gun and got a psyche here and now I am seeing her weekly and probably don't need to.  (Yet anyway...)     I should warn you and the earlier poster though that the turn around time is NOT that quick!   I scheduled time off based on that expectation and was sadly dissapointed...Now I have to wait until November...Don't get your hopes up time wise!   I wish I had never heard the  expected and overly optimistic time frame...     I do like the doctors and you will be in good hands...( pretty sure Vernon is with Faulkner too...)  Good luck...

Thanks,  I know now that it might not happen this summer.  I am fine with it not happening until fall.  I called Dr Vernon office to see if she works out of faulkner and she does.  Thanks again guys.
