Constipation
Colace (generic: docusate) caps: 1 in AM, 2 at bedtime, every day
add, if needed:
1 capful of MiraLax powder (it's tasteless!) dissolved in 6-8 oz of water, juice or Crystal Light. You can take this every day, though I only add it if I've been bad about my water intake, and the constipation catches up with me. Even though it's called "MiraLax", it's more a stool softener than it is a laxative; if you take too much of it (more than once a day), it acts more like Milk of Magnesia.
Last resort, after trying MiraLax: a stimulant laxative like senna or Ducolax. I've only needed this once or twice since my surgery.

Yes I have had my bouts with this as well. And as you said, up the water. However, I also take a stool softner (pill) twice a day. Once in AM and once before bed. I also add benefiber to my daily ****tail (two teaspoons). On occassion if I do have a problem, I take some milk of magnesia and that has always taken care of the problem within a day or less.
Hope this helps,
The Nurse Practiotioner and Secretary (both WLS Alumni) at my program, swore by "Light -Plum Smart Juice".
I found some where the prune juice is. It is delicious tastes more like cranberry juice than prune juice. - I got the light version with less sugar. I do not have dumping- but thought I should be safe.
It is a miracle worker! (At least in my case)
Now I keep it on hand and it gets things moving within just an hour or so when I need help!
Love IT , Love IT, Love IT- my new best friend.
I still can't get used to this new irregular schedule. I used to be very predictable in that area!
Good Luck-
