Feeling Full

Had my surgery last Monday (2/11/08). This probably sounds like a stupid question but I will ask it anyway. I am about to start adding my pureed foods and I am wondering what it will feel like to be full? Everyone has told me "full" feels different that before and I am just wondering how? When I drink my protein shakes (which I have to slow myself down with)(I have never been a sipper with any beverage) I feel tight on the sides and sort of crampy but I don't know if this is still part of my recovery from the surgery. I had some yogurt today but only a couple small bites because I was not sure what to expect.  Hoping someone post-op could explain what it feels like physically.

I'm three months out and I'm still not exactly sure!  Some foods like chicken or meat I can tell that I am "full-ish"...With other stuff...not quite there yet, so that is why I stick to the recommended serving sizes...

do not try to get full   you portion your food out and if you feel you have had enough just two bites in that is enough I only ate two ounces at the most in the first few weeks applesauce consistency so be careful to not try to push to feeling full sipping is learned   get a sippy cup from the kids section of the grocery store it would help also if you put to much in   just swallow it slowly   not all at once I have only felt tight when I had an issue with chicken then scallops so I cannot attest to full feeling    cause the food did not stay with me    if you get what I mean

I have no idea what full feels like and I don't care too.  What has been working for me and what I've been taught (and it works) is portion control and eating on schedule.  I eat 5 times a day (3 meals and 2 snacks).  Trust me, you'll benefit from this and be able to maintain when using this surgery as a tool.   I honestly don't know what "full" is even as a pre op because I always overate and stuffed myself.  You will find that you're satisfied when doing the portion control and eating on a schedule.  There are those days I'm off my schedule and I notice that my blood sugar will drop and I'll get shakey.  I carry protein bars, nuts and cheese with me at all times so I don't grab something unhealthy. Good luck.
