Stage II Help

I am on Stage II and finding it difficult to find things to eat (believe it or not) .  Being picky does not help.  I had a heart issue on Dec. 24th and spent Christmas Eve in the Hospital and came home late Christmas Day.  I did not even eat in the Hospital as it was not the one where I had my RNY done a few weeks ago, and they were not familiar with the diet and all.  So my schedule was all messed up and I'm trying to get back to a "normal" day of protein drinks and such.  Any suggestions would help. Thanks - Carol

Hi Carol! I am sorry to hear that you had to spend your holiday in the hospital. I hope that all is well now and that you are on the mend. My wifes Grandmother passed away christmas eve so we did not celebrate except for Asher - he doesn't understand whats going on so Santa had to come for him! As for Stage II I ate Fage yogurt. I like it plain but you can flavor it with SF syrups, it has tons of protein. Refried beans with some melted RF cheese and a tsp of Fage mixed together, tuna salad pureed, chicken salad pureed, hummus, Laughng cow light cheese wedges, cottage cheese, and light yogurt very low sugar. If I can think of anything else I will let you know! Let me know if you need anything. Shana

Hi Shana - So sorry to hear of Nicole's Grandmother.  That's really hard to handle during the Holidays.  I had just bought some of the Fage yogurt but haven't tried it yet.  Think I will tomorrow.  What I am really tired of is everything cold (or so it seems).  I DO NOT WANT ANYMORE CLEAR BROTH !  (ugh  LOL !)  I am starting to feel better.  I have a complete round of blood tests this Friday and then I'll hear more.  The cardiologist wants to see what my I & R level (coumadin) is.  I don't go back to Dr Jiser until Jan. 7th.  Let me know how you are doing. At that point I was eating Dannon light n fit yogart, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, ff refried beans with a dollop of ff sour cream (tastes like nachos without the chips), sf carnation instant breakfast, scrambled eggs with cheese. Hope this helps. Kendra

Hi Kendra -  Any suggestions at this time will help.  I went through this "freaking out" stage before surgery and bought all kinds of stuff and then forgot I had it.  So thanks for reminding me of the sf carn breakfast.  I have been eating the yogurt.  Of course it is hard as I am picky.  I do not like any kind of beans, cottage cheese, sour cream, oh I can go on and on.  I was so looking forward to scrambled eggs but the NUT said No.  She said it act's like a piece of rubber in the pouch and very hard to digest at this stage.  When did you start with the eggs? She advised me to wait until Stage III.  I am afraid to try some new things as I have had no vomiting, dumping, etc.   Carol

Honestly it's been so long now that I don't remember.  I believe I had eggs my first month post op.  Everything my first month was blended or "soft" like scrambled eggs are.  I made a few choices for myself but chewed it to a puree.  I haven't experience dumping either, but I recently have had some foaming vomit, which was due to eating chicken either too fast or I didn't chew enough.  What awful pain that caused me.  Lesson learned on that one for sure! You may want to try something that  you use to not like, you're tastes may change.  Give it a try.  The re-fried beans are great protein.   Kendra
