Sleep Study tonight
I don't know if they moved yet but when i went last they said they were moving to the mariot or some hotel. but if not ur basicly sleeping in a hospital room, and it feels like it, and u get all wired up and its funny and i didnt mind it looks like crap but doesnt hurt and then u take ur pill for sleeping and lay on ur back. and she has you do a couple things to get the machine right and u sleep and u can talk to her/him if u need to. i have cheryl and she was the most wonderful tech there she gave me vouchers for breakfast the next morning.
Hi
The tech I had name steve. He okay guy. They said they were moving to the hotel down the street about a mile. I guess it didnt happen yet.
They put stuff on your head the wires the hook up.... Make sure you do not blow dry your hair the day of process and use the hair conditioner...
It be easy.. They do not provide sleeping pill you might have to get it from your pcp..
Good Luck..
I had RNY Lap 11/19....
at NWH Good staff and nice people

My experience was lousy...I had a sleep study about three years ago because I was having trouble staying asleep (I fell asleep ok)....There were so many wires that I felt like I was about to strangle myself any time I moved, and the bed was about as comfortable as a college dorm room...Needless to say, I developed a problem falling asleep that night! The people were very nice, but overall it wasn't too fun for me...They showed you a short video when you got there and said how my visit would be like a pleasant hotel stay...If that was a hotel stay I would have asked for my money back! Lol...The place I went to in Newton is actually closed now, so that might speak volumes...I am sure NWH is much better!

I had my sleep study done at Leominster Hospital. It's not a good night sleep. All the wires hooked up to you (on you head, chest, legs) and heart monitors, oxygen monitor on your finger and the mask on your face. The gunk they put in your hair to hold the electrodes on is like super glue (so you'll definatley need to shower before you head to work). I had to have it done twice and it wasn't a fun experience.

I would have to say ditto to all the other posts.
It is not a fun time. I was initially excited to have a night away from the kiddo, watch what I wanted on TV and read a book.
The actual sleeping part was pretty miserable. I ended up taking a nice LONG nap the next day because I only slept for 4 hours the night of the study.
The GOOD news- if you have sleep apnea (as I did) you get all kinds of interesting reports and then have to go back for the CPAP titration. I had 65 apnea episodes an hour!
My second time there was super! I could not believe the difference the CPAP made. I slept 8 hours, did not wake up and felt like a new, refreshed woman.
I know people hate the CPAP- but I love mine.
It is sooooooo much better than waking up a million times all night.
I could not imagine sleeping without it. (at least until I lose more wt- maybe it will go away)
Good Luck!

UGH!! I am so tired!!! I slept like CRAP!! And the bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. So I had Steve as a tech, and he was just awesome, had me laughing my big butt off. So I get all hooked up and get into bed. I try to fall asleep, and can't so I feel like I didn't sleep AT ALL!! I am awoken at 5:20 a.m. (another UGH) and Steve proceeds to tell me that he has never seen anyone toss and turn as much as I did in the first 2 hours. He said he came in around 10 times in the first 2 hours to untangle my wires as they were wrapped around my neck and he didn't want me to choke myself. He said after that I was fine. He had to come in a few other times to push on the electrodes on my head. When he woke me up, I was like did I sleep at all, since I swear I didn't. He told me I had a few episodes, and that I have sleep apnea. But that was off the record, so I need to go back for another crappy night of sleep. It was the worse experiance ever..
