Have Questions and Need Answers
Well let me start off by saying I am 2 weeks till I have the bypass and I just started my liquid diet (which by the way taste horriable) I am starting to second guess my self if this is the right thing to do has anyone else ever felt this way? I mean I am worried about addiction. I am also worried about all the other side affects that might happen. Any one have any other problems with relationships I am worried I have heard that alot changes after surgery and I just was curious what other people have gone threw and any advice. Any problems sexually after the surgery. I look forward to hear from everyone. Thank You
Its normal to feel this nervous. I've had some really bad days in my 3 mo. post-op, and wondered if I did the right thing. My surgeon said that was totally normal to feel that way. The liquid shakes at Target taste pretty good. Try those. As for addictions, you are addicted to food. That craving has to be understood to stop it. Once you know WHY y ou turn to food, it won't have any power over you anymore. I suggest seeing a therapist to help you discover this.
I've had one day that I kept vomitting for 14 hours. That was the worst of it. I've had so many more benefits that I'm glad I did it. This (post op) is the time to rediscover your body and learn how it works. Remember one thing: You're having surgery on your stomach NOT your brain., (a very wise friend told me this)...the things that triggered you to eat will still be there...so be aware. See a therapist to help you over those triggers. Start exercising...you're doing the best thing for your body and soul...treat yourself well. :) Nothing happens overnight, so give yourself time.
Good luck,
Marie
If you are going to sabatoge yourself so early without even have had the surgery then you are not ready. You have to me mentally ready for this. It is not an easy journey. I am still having experiences almost 2 years out. U are making excuses already. This tastes lousy. Instead of seeing how bad it tastes, ask someone how you can doctor it up to make it taste better. I got a lot of recipes on this web site about different protein drinks you can make at home with stuff u already have in you cabinet.
And as far as relationships, you don't know what is in store when you are big or smaller, so you just have to hope that your partner will support u and be along for the ride with you. In my situation, things I thought would change didn't and things I never even thought about are crazy. For example, my husband is a good support for me but he never tells me how nice I look or even that I look sexy or anything. Other men do and that is a hard thing for me because I like it and I try not to give in to the guys coming on to me but it is hard when you are not getting it from where you want it to come from. That is why they have therapy. And as far as sex goes, it is SO MUCH BETTER with out 156 lbs on. I can enjoy it more and do more things. IT IS THE BOMB!
So stop doing this to yourself, and if you are going to continue to say the what ifs, you might rethink your surgery. Don't do it for the wrong reasons-DO IT FOR YOU AND YOUR HEALTH AND YOUR BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE!!!
All the best,
Stephanie
Of course you are worried. I would be concerned if you weren't. I hope you have brought your concerns up with your doctor and his associates. I had all the same concerns. GBS saved my life in my opinion. I have no regrets at all. It was the best thing I have done for myself. I have had no side effects or complications at all. I'm more confident and have such a good body image now. I had plastic surgery 6 weeks ago to finish my journey. You will do what your heart tells you to do and will be happy with your decision. Good for you for doing all your research and voicing your concerns.
