About how long????

I am having gastric. No lap band here

I went to NWH.  My consult was May 31st , 2006 and my surgery was July 26th,2006.  It was quick and I don't think it has been that quick for a while there.

I had my consult on May 16, 2007 and had my surgery on Aug. 23, 2007.  It would have been sooner if my insurance didn't change in July. Kendra

Sometimes you can get it done sooner, but surgeons generally tell you the average is 6-12 months.

My inital appointment was June 18th and my surgery was September 18th.  I wouldn't want it done in less time than three months because of all the things you need to learn, habits you need to form and other preparations for life change.   Julie

Thanks so for asking this question.  I had my first appt back in July.  I've done all the testing, taking supplements, dietary changes are being made, tried a variety of shakes and I have lost 9 pds. I am really getting impatient.  I WANT IT NOW !!!!!

My insurance required a six month  medically supervised diet.  I met my surgeon I think July or August of 2005 and I had surgery 11/21/05.  I was approved the first week of September but I just started back to school.  I had to rationalize when would be a good time to take off to recup.  I thought between Thanksgiving and Christmas would work and it did.  Yhe surgeon first told me I could be done in 3-4 months until he heard which insurance I had.  He said it was one of the most diddicult insurances to get approval.  I was approved on my first time but it took a long time to get there.
