I am currently only about 4 months out but know already i will deperately need some plastic surgury in order  to complete this journey.... i know all of my insurances requirements for a TT lose 100lbs, rashes & be stable for 3 months... etc... i have had severe rashes for years do to a huuge panus and now with losing 72 pounds its only getting worse... what i am wondering is who did you use for plastics and how long after your WLS did u wait?? I am apatient of Dr. Partridge and was wondering if NWH reccomended anyone to you any info would be wonderful... i am hoping to be at goal (170) hopefully before a year out i would love to have plastics late next summer but do not know if this is a reasonable goal... Whatever advice you have is welcomed... Thanks Katie

I had PS this past summer.  I had GBP surgery 20 months prior.  I would wait until you have been at a stable weight for 3-6 months.  If you gain or lose to much weight after plastics it can effect the outcomes of your plastic surgery.  I went to Dr. Gee in Stoneham.  I did not have WLS at NWH.  I did gor to 4 consultations before I decided which PS to go too.  I also asked for referals from my WLS and he gave me two and I decided on one of the PS that he referred me too.  I also thought I had stopped losing weight at about 11 months and it was just a long stall and I ended up losing another 30 pounds.  If I had surgery sooner then I would have been disapointed with my results.  PS tend to be upfront on when you should have surgery.  Each doctor will have their own criteria about how long you should be at a stable weight.  Good luck and enjoy the journey. and be patient.  I know that can be very hard at times.  I know for me my journey would not have ended if I did not have some PS done.

I've actually heard you should wait untill at least 18 months out and being at a stable weight for 3 months. I know it seems like forever to wait, but the results will be so much better and you've come this far whats another 18 months? Congrats on loosing 72lbs. I am not yet on the loosing side but hope to be in the next 6 months and just like you I've had rashes and stuff already so I can't imagine what its going to be like. I know I to will need PS. I've also heard Shriners Burn Hospital does low cost procedures if you can donate so much skin. I'm not sure about it but it might be worth looking into. I "heard" you only have to pay for anesthesia. I'm not sure what procedures they do or the cost. Just thought it was worth a mention. Lauren
