MetroWest Medical Center-Dr Randall

I am in the beginning stages of looking into WLS, who has just joined up with OH today!  I have been doing lots of research into the process.   My question: Has anyone had experience with the Weight Management Program at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick? The center opened in March and is headed by Dr. Sheldon Randall.  I've heard so many great things about Dr. Randall, but I'd like to know more about what others think about the Natick Program.  I've signed up to attend an informational session next month. Thanks for any input.

Hello LJM,  I have never been part of the Natick Program however I did just have Lap Band surgery by Dr. Randall on 9/19 and he is wonderful !!!!!   I actually had my surgery and attend the support groups in Medford. Best of luck .. you couldn't ask for a better surgeon.  Carol

I am having surgery on Oct 15th by Dr. Randall.  I can't say enough good things about him and his staf*****o the support meetings as much as you can.  They are important and so worthy.  I am from the South Shore and travel to Medford just to see him.  The drive is a pain but he is worth it.

Thank you both for your feedback--I've heard nothing but the highest praises for Dr Randall!  Carol, Keep me posted on how you do with the LapBand.  And LibraryGirl, good luck with your upcoming RNY.   I would really like to hear about the staff at the MetroWest Medical/Natick program, since that would definitely be more convenient distance wise for me.  However, I will travel if it means getting the best overall care. Thank you!

I had my surgery done 19 months ago in Medford by Dr. Randall.  He is the BEST!  You are in excellent hands no matter what hospital he is at.  Just go to support, and follow the instructions to the letter. You will be fine. Stephanie

When is the information sesion? Had Dr randell In medford but if he runs info/support out of natick that would be much more convenient for me. Doug.

Hi Doug, You're looking great since your surgery!  The sessions are held every month, alternating between MWMC Natick and MWMC Framingham.  I had signed up to go to the one in Natick on Oct 4, but it was cancelled.  What really impressed me was that I received a call from Dr Randall himself that morning apologizing profusely for the cancellation, and offering to talk with me about any questions I may have!  The next information session is Nov. 1 at 6pm at Perini Auditorium at MWMC Framingham.  I plan to attend, but I may call him with some questions beforehand.    The program at MWMC is pretty new, the opening was announced in March, and is located at the Natick campus.   Maybe I'll see you at the Nov session? Hey, I know this is an old topic but I figured I'd post anyway. I work in MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, BTW :) I heard Dr. Randall only does open surgeries, no laparoscopics. I've heard he's a great surgeon, but if you have a chance to get a surgery done laparoscopically, you should do it.

Scary,  I certainly would prefer laparascopic.  I have a consultation appt. set for Nov 9 with Dr. Randall, and I have my many questions ready to pose to him.   I checked your blog, and you seem to be doing great since your WLS in Sept!  Is Dr. Shikora at MGH? Good luck as you continue your journey.

I'm doing pretty well if I do say so myself :) down 50lb from surgery 9/4. Dr. Shikora's at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. He's great. The Obesity Consult Center there is fantastic. I actually just got home today, I was in the hospital for a stricture :/
