Short Term Disability Insurance Claim

Does anyone have AFLAC and do you know if under their short term disability policy they cover you while you are out of work after having surgery?  I ask because I just got my date and I need to make sure that I will still have an income while I am out of work after surgery.  

Hi Karen,  I don't have AFLAC, but my company has short term disability under The Hartford..I just got my date (Oct. 9th), and started the paperwork for my claim with them.  I will be getting paid while I'm out - and I would think AFLAC would be similar?  Give them a call - or talk to your HR dept. - I'm sure they will give you all the info you need...Good Luck! I had to have everything go thru my HR Dept. to follow their instruction to file the claim for STD.  Call them and see what is necessary as you will also have to complete FMLA paperwork to protect your job while out. Let me know if you have any more questions.
