NWH: Private Room?
I know that some of you had a private room at NWH and that you paid for the difference yourself. When did you request the private room? I have my pre-op on July 18 and I'm wondering if there's some point that day that I should make my request. I'd really like my own room; I have a big family and the visitors might be annoying to a roommate!
Thanks!
Ann
Hi Ann,
First.... CONGRATS on your upcoming surgery.... that is wonderful! :) you should be so proud of yourself and all you have done to get this approval etc. Good luck on your journey.
2nd. I was told that a private room (I had one!!) is on a 1st come/1st served basis.... but that you should speak to them about it at every opportunity to remind them... ie: when you go for your pre-op testing request request, and then call them about it too. I found, for me.... I just HAD TO have a private because i have severe insomnia and didnt want to disturb a rooomate, or vice versa. at the time it was @ 18 a night extra and my parents paid for it as an early bday gift...... YAY!
just keep asking because they tend to forget it seems and YOU are the most important person to YOU... :)
best of luck
hugs.
Hey Kelly.... my friend! how have you been? I was told at the orientation meetings that they always try to keep all the wls patients in rooms together. They like to do this for many reasons, one is so that you can make friends and help each other out along the way. I just really have the worst sleeping habits so I wanted a private room so bad. I was happy they could oblige.
How are you doing? How is your journey coming along?
J.
Hey Kelly,
I requested a private room and did not get one. If I recall right the fee is up to $46 a night....it would have been worth it. They did not put me in a room with a wls patient. I actually tried to get them to move me in with another wls patient that was on the floor with no luck. Unfortunately, my roommate was a CRAZY lady who had knee surgery. She was seriously the worst part of my stay. Hopefully you will have much better luck than I did.
You are doing great with the pre-op weight loss. Keep up the good work!

I tried to get a private room but they didn't have one available. I ended up with a LOUD older woman who was in because she kept passing out. She kept my 2 days & nights interesting because she kept getting out of bed on her on and falling down. I spent the whole time there buzzing the nurses for her!! I was so happy when the doctor released me!
