went to my pre-testing
hi everyone, i went to my pretesting appt today. i got there at 8:00 am and got home at 2:30! very exhausting day. my husband came with me. he started making jokes saying that i didn't quit smoking and i did,. well, we kind of argued and they gave me a nicotine test anyway. i havent had a smoke in three weeks. i was not a heavy smoker. anyway, Nancy, the nurse is like "do you need more time to think about this surgery"? the only reason she was saying this was because of my husband. he can be a real ball buster. he was saying things like "she's never worked out in her life". " she hangs around this girl who had surgery and she smoked and drank right up to and after the surgery", bla bla bla, and i don't hang with this girl, i just know she had the surgery. And actually i did work out everyday years ago when my kids were small and i didn't have to work full time. why doens't he remember this? Well, Life got in the way and i had to go back to work full time and became depressed over family stuff (which i won't go into) and gained weight. and here i am now. of course when Nancy was saying "this is for the REST OF YOUR LIFE",. it get's kind of scarry. the rest of my life sounds like FOREVER and it is, but i think i am as ready as anyone is when they go under such a huge commitment. i am having second thoughts and then look back on my life and down at my body and say "no way, i'm going thru with it". does this make sense? are these feelings normal? anyway i am schedule for tuesday.
hi kathy, OMG . well, i drive from Worcester first of all. my appt for gallbladder was 8:45. so to be there on time, we left at 7. just to be on the safe side. you know, mass pike and all. i had that, then pretesting at 9:40. well, first it was with the nurse, then with the student resident, then with the resident, then EKG, then with the anesthesiologist, then blood work. of course i had to wait in between each person. myv husband was PISSED. oh well, he got over it. see, it's a teaching hospital and you have to meet EVERYONE. oh, i was so tired and starved by the time i left.
good luck!
I got my pre-testing done last monday. I was scheduled for Gallbladder Ultrasound at 2:30pm with no food for 8hrs prior. Needless to say I had a purse packed with food for after. It took approx 1hr. That included Ultrasound, Chest X-ray, blood work and an EKG.
Sorry you had to wait so long- It was kind of stressful. The tests were Ok but as I finished them all it just made everything seem so much closer to happening.
Stay Strong-
Jennifer
I had all my pre-op labs done within one hour! I must have gotten lucky or something, by the sound of it. I went to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, gallbladder ultrasound at 8:15am, then chest xray, bloodwork, and EKG. I was out by 9:30!
I still dont have a surgery date, however... But I still have 2 more group sessions to do and my last Nut. appt this week.
