Doing my "To Do List"
Here we are, only a couple of days from surgery. I've been working on my "To Do List". I should really call it my "TO EAT" list. Went to the Olive Garden last night which was great! I'm very overwhelmed with making all my arrangements for next week as far as the kids and their activities go. Trying to do lots of work at work so I leave everything neat for my boss etc. One thing that I should be doing that I'm not is completely cutting out drinking Mountain Dew! I'm addicted, I'm trying to just drink 1 a day but it's not working. I'm looking around my house realizing that I still have lots to do, however, at the moment, it seems that reading about other people's experiences is helping the most. I'm never going to get everything done!
Thanks for letting me vent!

I would give up the Dew, my friend.... To me it is crack.... And you are going to suffer more after surgery if you dont give it up before.... You dont need you body craving all that suger and caffine right after surgery, you will feel bad enough without that also...
And look at it this way,, if you cant give it up now before, you prob wont be able to after... the surgery dosnt give self control..
Step away from the DEW nice and slow... you can do it
Hi Brenda, Thanks for giving me a good giggle! I know I can do it, it's just doing it. I've been cutting, down, down down. I don't drink any coffee or tea so to me it's been my caffeine fix. Anyway, thanks for the advice and giggle. By the weekend I will be Dew Free! Maybe I can bronze a bottle???? XoxoJoanne
Your welcome
I would hate to see you have caffine withdrawal right after surgery, cause it sucks. I know how addictive the Dew is. I see it in the store and I get the shakes all over, really...
My husband brought one into our house and I lost it.. I said" If I were addicted to crack would you bring some home and do it right next to me" thats how it felt..
So there is no Dew in my house, cause its that hard for me..
Good luck

Jo,
I was thinking of you this morning! The 16th is your day, right?
I saw Dr. Randall on Tuesday and he gave me two hugs. I told him I was thrilled to have 10 minutes alone with him rather than sharing him with a room full of people!

Hi Joanne
I was addictted to coke I could drink a two liter bottle myself each and almost everyday as well as having one cup of tea everyday. I tried to give it up before surgery and I just couldn't. I did cut down a lot but just couldn't give it up. i don't recall getting a headache from caffine withdrawl but I might have everything is such a blur in the begining stage right after surgery due to all the drugs. Shortly after surgery maybe two weeks after I tried a small sip of coke and it tasted awful, it reminded me of battery acid not that I know what battery acid tastes like. Since that experience I no longer crave soda in anyway. My husband and children drink and it does not bother me one bit. On accasion at the grocery store if I go down the soda isle I may salvitate a little like Paslov's dog but I get over it quickly and move a long. You will be able to give up soda after surgery there will be no other choice but to give it up. In the begining you will probably not want much of anything. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. You are in good hands with Dr. Randall!
Hi Joanne,
Don't stress it will all get "done" and if it doesn't eh...life will go one.
I was thinking about you this morning, I have an appointment with Dr Randall on Wednesday so I'll probably stop in to see you then if you're up to visitors....and remember Thursday is regular meeting so you'll probably have several visitors, aren't we just pesty...
If you need anything just shoot off an email or phone call remember I'm only down the street.
Sending you nothing but good vibes...it will be fine. You know he's the best and the worst part of this magnificent journey will be behind you Tuesday afternoon, from then on only WOW moments.
Hi Joanne
I will be praying for you on the 16th. We will be keeping a chair warm for you. And the visitors will be there too. You know you are in good-no let me change that great hands and Dr. Randall is the best. We are all proof so you have nothing to fear. I just made sure I had all my tools and stuff for my post op. Bottles of Water, bottles of diet Iced Tea, ice, instant breakfast, personal size blender, splenda, cottage cheese, saltines, healthy choice soups (this is more for week two) and you will be fine. Also measuring cups, measuring spoons, small cups like the bathroom paper cup because 2 and 3 days post op that is about all the shake you can drink. I got all this stuff before and it really helped.
Lot of love and best wishes going you way.
Stephanie
