Topic: RE: HELP!!!!!
Hi, I have the lymph in my left leg and groin.  After a 200 lbs. weight loss those areas have gotten much smaller also.  No one but a specialist (PCP or your surgeon) will be able to determine if you have a tumor.  I often felt as if I had a tumor is different parts of my body but they weren't   I had a panni 4 years ago and swore that they would find a tumor.  No tumor just fat and fluid.  I know that I am not answering your questions but I my hope is that you might worry a little less until you get to see your PCP.  Ask your PCP if he can recommend a lymphodema therapist.  I saw one in the spring.  The committment is intense.   Good luck to you.   Please let me know how you make out. Topic: How to Drive with bandaged leg/foot
Has anyone had their right leg & foot  bandaged & been able to drive somehow? The hospital sandal they gave me fell off & caused problems. What have others done? Did you get a special adaptable shoe somewhere? Has anyone worn compression socks & was able to wear normal shoes with bandaged legs above ankle? any advice is appreciated.

Topic: HELP!!!!!
I have severe lymphedema in both legs- so much so, I am on disability. I had my rny on July 9th...My legs have gotten so much smaller since then. However, I had huge balls (the size of small watermelons above my knees). Well, the "ball" on my right leg is soft to the touch and u can tell it is filled with fluid; the ball on the left leg is huuuuge and half is soft and wrinkly now, but the other half is hard...I will be going to my pcp on Oct 9th because it hurts to walk like this. My left leg is so heavy...I am scared it may be a tumor...has anyone else experienced this?

That's great Tarra! It sounds like you must be in the IHHS then. They are great advocates. Keep up up to date on your surgery and progress.

Another update - I talked to a county nurse who has been working with me since right before I was placed in a nursing home and a woman that works for an organization that advocates for the disabled.  They said they are going to appeal this and they can get them to pay and I will have my surgery this year.

Topic: RE: Pannilectomy and Lymphedema
I had my tummy tuck done in January and I had hoped it would improve my flow, but it didn't .  I still have to watch my legs very carefully.  I just wanted to say that I wish you well on your upcoming surgeries and I hope that you have improvements with the infections.  I'm sure in that aspect it will help especially in the panni area!

The first step is to find a therapist in your area. This link can help you with this and what questions you need to be asking the therapist. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lymphedema/a,messageboard/ action,replies/board_id,5492/cat_id,5092/topic_id,635130/ I would suggest going with a therapist in your area that is LANA certified if you can find one.  Although it cannot be cured, it can be managed with proper treatments.  If you have further questions contact me anytime.  [email protected]

Topic: MTV True Life Update: This is me now
For those who have been asking when MTV is going to do an update show for True Life "I'm Obese".  I finally got confirmation that the update show is airing next Saturday, September 29th. You'll have to check your local listings for the times, but on the MTV site they are listing it as: September 29th  @  2pm EST September 29th  @  6pm EST I'm sure if you miss these times it will be airing again.  They will be having Corey from the same episode being updated.  They are probably only going to do around a 2 minute segment as there are several they are doing updates for. For details you can visit MTV's site:   http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/truelife/episode/episode.jhtml?e pisodeId=125301 This is so new the photo for the show is not even showing yet. If you never saw the original show it is on the web here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4995710334625496515 &hl=en Thanks for all the support over the years!

my right arm, right thigh, and right calf, are all larger than the right. My calf is 3 inches lareger, my arm is 1 inch larger and my thigh is 3 inches larger. My wls tole me it was lymphedma. I asked what I need to do because they feel so heavy and tight and kinda ache. thye also swell even bigger when I walk or stand for any period of time. I was told that there is no treatment and that it may get a little better as I lose weight. I can not wear boots an dhave not been able to for about 2 years. I can not wear a watch on my left wrist. I feel helpless. Where do I start to find someone who can at least help me. I know thereis no cure but I would like to be active in getting improvement or at least stopping it from getting worse. I am really scared and feel helpless.
