Anybody know how to get rid of Venous Stasis discoloration?
I have recently had a lap band surgery six weeks ago. I am now down 37lbs. I am pleased to say that the size of my ankles, due to Edema, have decreased by quite a bit. And, I can walk much better now.
I still have a lot of discoloration caused by Venous Stasis on the lower 12" of my ankles. Will this eventuallygo away or should I be using some kind of medication in addition to my sequential pumped leg stockings?

Sorry to tell you - but the discoloration is permanent. It's also called "Heam tattooing" - my legs have improved a lot with the weight loss, but the discoloration is still there.
It's caused by the rupture of small blood vessels due to the pressure from the excess fluid - the iron in the blood stains the tissues (even through the body has reabsorbed the blood).
The main thing is to make sure you maintain your treatment - the stained areas are pre-cursors to ulceration (which is much, much worse) so it's good that you're being treated before it gets that bad.
