Topic: RE: Hepatitis B Vaccine
BTW...My daughter received her immunizations. She doesn't have any learning problems...in fact, she's VERY smart. However, she was, at one time, dx with ADHD. A few weeks ago, I took her off her meds, and she acts the same off as she did on. She has REALLY SEVERE behavioral issues that I now wonder might be connected to the Hep Immunizations!?!?! She's very mouthy, talks back, very impulsive, craves attention, EXTREMELY hyper, hits, puts herself in danger, doesn't mind... I've wondered if she might not have Bipolar (it kinda runs in our family) or ODD (oppositional defiance disorder). Anyone else see this in kids with the shots? Any thoughts or advice?

O MY GOSH!! I have never heard this, but it makes sense to me. I was dx about 3 years ago at age 23 after fighting about 4 years to get a doc to listen to me. I at first thought it was my pregnancy that set it off, but after I thought about it, I think it just made it worse/flared it up. I remembered that I started feeling different around 15 or 16. I just didn't feel to healthy, lack of energy, VERY tired... Of course, my dad & doctor thought I was just imagining it all. Here's what I find ironic... I became a CNA when I was 15. We were required to do the Hep series as well. I only did 2 of them b/c I quit before the 3rd rolled around. Then, about 4 years ago, I started nursing school. My Hep Titer showed that I too was not immuned. I had one more shot, and again, I was not immuned. I was told that sometimes happens. This is all so wierd!! I'm definitely going to look into this more!! Question: Has anyone heard if some SLE patients may be able to some day get a settlement b/c of this?

Have had an issue with sudden drop in platelets... not post surgery... but stress (surgery) is often enough to precepitate a flare??? And when I flare, platelets can often be the marker to let me know that. B

Wow, what a good bit of news that is! Presently I am on Prednisone for the Lupus flare. I will check with a local 'Mom and Pop' pharmacy and see if a suppository is an option. 305/145 no more to loose, this is my 2 year anniversary month!

Topic: RE: did anyones immune system go into shock after surgery?
Hi Stacey, I don't check this board very often because there is not much activity on it. I am so sorry that you now have discoid Lupus. I have a friend with it and she gets alot of skin lesions. The auto immune drugs like Methotrexate have helped her. I had surgery 2 years ago and my Lupus has been down hill ever since. Anytime you have stress to your system you run the risk of a flare. Even though I feel bad now I feel so much better weighing 165 pounds less and not having: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Asthma, Gerd..... Take Care

Unfortunately, surgery doesn't take away Lupus flares.... wi**** did!!! I have a theory that because of all the estrogen released along with the fat lost... we can actually end up with worse flares for awhile.... but just a theory.... I always to do worse around period time or during periods of quick weight loss and better when my weight stabilizes or has a very slow loss? On the whole, it is nice just to move around the world easier... however I can't say that is pain free yet! Lookin forward to menopause! B

For those who have to have NSAIDs Hello Lupus board....Long time no see!!! Comin up on my 2 yr surgiversary and life is sure challenging... but just wanted to share an exciting new prospect... For those of you that may have to have NSAIDs or steroids .... Trying a new pharmacist that will put those meds into a suppository form... of course, that is not exactly the most pleasant of propects... but for those who must have anti-inflammatories or face constant pain.... what a godsend!!!! Right now, i am trialing Indocin this way.... Shout outs to all my ol pals.... Hope things are goin well 140 gone and still losing....

Has anyone had troubles with their Lupus after surgery? My Lupus was doing fine until I had surgery and then all hell broke loose! After being hospitalized and high doses of I.V steriods, steriods at home I think my immune system is finally setteling down. My Lupus got so bad a few weeks ago I now have skin Lupus along with my sle, and fibromyalgia. But in the long run I think it will still all be worth it to have a new body!! Just wondering about everyones experience. Thank you in advance for sharing. Stacey in Indiana

You may want to call your Primary Care Doctor for pain meds. In most cases they are your best advicates. Call them about changing the dosage, strength or actual type. Balacet works well also. It is worth a try. Do you take one or two pills when you take your Ultram? If you take one you may want to try two.
