Topic: Systemic Lupus: Need Advice
I was just recently diagnosed with SLE. Does anyone have any advice for me? Please. I am on Robaxin and Plaquenil.
I am so tired & run down and just hurting. We are talking about starting me on a pain patch. Having an MRI of my hands done soon(for RA??). Any thoughts for me?
Thanks,
Lindy

Topic: Surgery with Ulcerative Colitis?
Hi,
Has anyone had surgery with Ulcerative Colitis? I have read some Dr's won't do it. I am also concerned about being able to take the large amount of drugs that I take with this disease.
Thanks for any info you can give,
Cindy
Topic: RE: SOS NEED ADVICE
Hi.... I have had lupus for 11 years and I had GB 2 years ago. I have had no complications due to my lupus. I am taking less meds for my lupus than pre-op. My joints don't have as much weight on them I guess. I am 43 y/o. I started at 294 and now fluctuate between 159-164 lbs.

Fibromyalgia is frustrating, as well as lupus, but there was a study done that made a lot of sense to me. It was concerning the relationship between lupus and Fibromyalgia. I'll see if I can find the study, and link it up in my forum on Chronic Pain.

Topic: RE: lap band with Lupus
Betsy, I was banded in Aug and have lost 40lbs and 60lbs altogether but my pain is no better of course I still weigh 345 so maybe you are not as overweight as me. The trouble is that I also have fibromyalgia. I can take my meds whole and my surgeon said i could take Ibuprophen if i take Prevacid or Prilosec also. Thanks for the reply.

I have Lupus and was banded in November. so far no effect on the Lupus except as I carry less weight, I'm needing less pain med. One thing to think about is that you aren't supposed to have any NSAIDs after banding. I'm using chewable Tylenol...not as effective, but I'm needing less as time goes on anyway. The other thing is that you'll be crushing your meds to take them. I was advised to take them with applesauce, but that didn't make them any less bitter! I take mine and then put a chewable multivitamin in my mouth and chew away the taste.
