Congrats on your skin removal!
I have systemic lupus and fibromyalgia. I am on Cymbalta, Lyrica, Plauenil, Flexeril and Tramadol PRN (1st line pain med) and Hydro - or Oxy- codone (2nd line pain meds before ER ) My surgery, on my legs and thighs, was staged.
I had one six inch area of an incision dehisc (open up) on one leg, but other than that, no issues. I had a wound care nurse coming in every day to treat the wound, and a wound care specialty doctor.
Flares can happen with trauma to the body, so I was kept in hospital for a full week post-op, just to make sure I was going to be OK.
Just an update after my TT... I am 6 weeks post-op, and I did not have any issues with healing. I have noticed that I am dealing with more fatigue than usual since the surgery, but it is still manageable. I am thrilled with the results of my TT, and I am so happy I had it done. :)
I am scheduled to have my arms done in December.
I have taken Plaquenil for my Lupus and RA for 6 months with no positive effect. I have on the other hand become dizzy and nauseas, highly forgetful like I'm always making mistakes. I actually feel worse on plaquenil than I did without it. I am sure it works for some people but I am not one of them.
Thanks for the information. I am nervous, but really excited too.
How have your leg and thigh surgeries been? That will be the third piece that I am looking at having done (inner thighs).
My plastics are focused on my legs and thighs, since that became a medical issue.
I have been taking Plaquenil for about 14 years, and it hasn't caused any healing issues at all. Nevertheless, because of the amount of skin, my surgeon decided to do it in stages as well.
My skin has always been prone to hyperpigmentation, hypertrophic scarring and keloids, way before I was diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. My first diagnosis was also UCTD - which was called MCTD back when I was first diagnosed.
I also take Cymbalta for the fibro, as well as Lyrica, Flexeril, and Omeprazole for GERD (something the DS doesn't fix, unfortunately)
No healing issues because of the Plaquenil for me. You may respond differently.
This almost angers me! Not at u but at my Dr! No one has even suggested the possibilities of complications! I have crohns disease,RA, & LUPUS.I can't believe after me asking many times about my concerns the Surgeon never gave not one warning!
