Phase Two Skin Reduction - OK'd!
I will be having Phase Two of my excess skin reduction surgery Monday, May 19,2014.
I hope this is the last surgery!
Phase One took place December 27th, and did not set off a flare, but I did have about a six-inch area where the incision dehisced (came apart).
I'm hoping that this surgery doesn't set off a flare, either.
Congrats!
I am having my first skin removal surgery (tummy tuck) next month. I have UCTD (Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease), and I am being treated with Plaquenil. I originally wanted the full body lift, but my surgeon is afraid of healing issues and flares. She wants me to do it in pieces.
Are you on any medications? How long did it take you to heal?
Thanks!
Congrats on your skin removal!
I have systemic lupus and fibromyalgia. I am on Cymbalta, Lyrica, Plauenil, Flexeril and Tramadol PRN (1st line pain med) and Hydro - or Oxy- codone (2nd line pain meds before ER ) My surgery, on my legs and thighs, was staged.
I had one six inch area of an incision dehisc (open up) on one leg, but other than that, no issues. I had a wound care nurse coming in every day to treat the wound, and a wound care specialty doctor.
Flares can happen with trauma to the body, so I was kept in hospital for a full week post-op, just to make sure I was going to be OK.
