plastic surgery and lupus

I am currently on plaquinol and methotrexate for my lupus and my plastic surgeon will not do a tummy tuck unless i go off both meds for 6 weeks prior and 6 weeks after surgery has anyone on these meds had a tummy tuck and if is how did you do?

hi Cindy,  alice here if you really want to know how your reaction is going to be consult your doctor and i would even consult your phamacist because they know all there is to know about the drugs you are currently taking.; but what i wanted to tell you is that i have lupus sle to and have taken both of the drugs you are now on and had a c-section , which is abdominal surgery and i was just fine all went well . i have been dealing with lupus sine 1997 , still using methotraxte and waiting for my approval for tummy -tuck . so hang in there you are not alone.

Thanks Alice did you stay on your meds when you had your c-section the surgeon wants me off and thats what scares me I am not worried about the surgery itself just afraid to go off my meds

hello cindy so it took mye so long to reply, actually yes there were some meds i did have to stop but not for long that why it is a good idea to tell your doctors of your concerns, i know its the pain that your really afrqaid of , but remenber a good doctor is one that listens, and again i can't stress enough how impotant it is to talk to your pharmisist. by the way what meds exactly i'm sure it's not all maybe some and ask if it's only a few days before the surgery , remember your meds can still stay in your system for a while , so ask your doctor to be specific. don't pani****il yu really know. keep you in prayer alice
