Topic: RE: Heading for revision...... Band to Bypass

Your not alone!  We go on this journey because we care about our health.  We all thought it through and researched, chose the band because it was lest invasive/removable etc.

We just gave medicine 10 more years to perfect the RNY for us :)  At least we got our diet down....

Topic: RE: Just HAD LAP BAND REMOVED JUNE 8, NINE YRS FROM ORIG PLACEMENT

This is just what I've been looking for!  I just had my band removed and am awaiting revision surgery.  My doc says that RNY is my best option and I've been scared.  I am also very hard on myself about the band failure, I was told that tons of people are having the same band failure.  It is nice to hear your stories because I still have a hard time not blaming myself.

I couldn't take my daily medication without lots of tricks, grind them, break them, one at a time, with yogurt, etc.  And even then the smallest pill would get stuck and then came the coughing, hiccuping, slimming and eventually elimination.  YUK!

As I fought to find my "sweet spot" I back slide into bad food choices and eating between meals ( I was hungry way more).  End of that chapter is that my weight has come back.

Cross your fingers for me on my next chapter!  I will keep all of you in my thoughts

I am so sorry! No help here, still banded - this forum is much slower than when we were first banded, I hope someone jumps on and can help!

I see I had a typo in my first post. I had my band removed in 2015 after a slip. By the time I had it out all I could eat was slider food or I would throw up. So here I am 5 years later weighing more then I did to start. I feel I need help to lose the weight so I am starting to research and visit seminars of doctors I think would be a good fit.

Hi!

I was banded in '11. Lost 140 pounds. I have a 6 month old baby (only pregnancy since banding) pre pregnancy I had gained about 20 pounds from my lowest now need to drop 50 pounds to get where I was. I came back to the forum today to see if anyone had gotten to where I was. My doctor is telling me I am literally in starvation mode, I didn't really believe that existed ?

Whats got you considering revision?

I'm so happy you have changed.  You were mixed up with the wrong crowd I think.  Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. There are moments when I think, hmmmmmmm..... I could actually have some steak now (my band didn't like steak), but then I think about when I was so overweight that even the hospital, had a difficult time assessing and helping me. Whispers heard that they needed extra assistance to move me. I don't want to ever be that girl again. I'm never going to be "thin", but I'm thrilled to be "normal/average" range.

And i I know I could just have a small amount of steak, but I'm afraid that just one little of this, or just one little of that, will end up taking me back down that path.

Prayers for a speedy and uneventful recovery! You were extremely successful with the band, you have learned new eating habits and workout habits that you can continue to use.
