I just started my journey in researching the best doctors in mt area. In my research I just found out that my employer has clauses written into our health care package so no procedures will be covered by BCBS of Texas for me. My credit it not good, and I am currently working on credit repair after a divorce and poor financial choices that followed. I have applied to United Medical Credit, Prosper, Care Credit, My Medical Loan, and one other... All denied due to my credit score. I have a credit card with a 25K line that I share with my boyfriend. We use about 8K per month and it is paid off monthly. (We put everything on the card for the cash back and points) I could use this but the interest rate is ridiculously high. I was told once upon a time that there were centers that offered in house financing. I can save up 3-4K but I am ready to do this after the first of the year. I don't want to have to wait a whole additional year to save up all the funds. I live in North Texas, but I am willing to travel a little if the doctor, center, price, and financing match my needs. HELP~

Hi Susan,
We could be twins, I was banded in March of 2010. I lost 100 pounds and have gained about half of it back. I have been up and down and all around on the scale, haha. I take drugs to slow my heart down too and it really does make it difficult to maintain your energy and stay motivated with exercise. I know from my personal experience that exercise is important, but not as important as diet when it comes to reaching my goal. I'm really trying to get back on track, so I thought I might try logging back in here for some inspiration. I joined weigh****chers and am trying to make it through the holidays without any more damage. I'm thankful I haven't gained everything back, but I know what a slippery slope I'm on. Good luck, I'll be rooting for you!

I had a leak as well and as I started to do my research to re-band I decided to revise to rny. Long term results are not great for the band, I saw one stat that said 30-50%failure rate. I did have complications prior to my lap band so was relieved that rny was an option. I was lucky because no erosion or heavy scar tissue so it was a possibility. I love my rny and wish I had done it originally...lessons learned. I've also seen a post from a lap band patient who had 6 revisions with her multiple bands, now she is revising to another procedure which will likely be more risky because of the number of surgeries.
Every situation is unique, it might work fine, but I would not expect it to be a permanent solution.
I found out my band had slipped during a scan looking for a clot in my lungs. The band needed to come out but I had to wait 6 months because I had to be on blood thinners. During those months I still ate protein 1st, in the consistency I could tolerate. Some times mush, sometimes solid meat chewed very well. I did start to gain weight, slider foods don't stick around so hunger comes back soon.
Good luck and keep us updated!!

Sorry to hear about your experience. What you are describing is exactly what happened to me. I never felt any real restriction and it's been two years now. I'm schedule for revision surgery to the duodenal switch next month. Hopefully things turn out better for you.

I've been banded for two years and never really saw any significant weight loss and have, in fact, gained weight on the band. Just like you, I'm scheduled for revision surgery next month, but for me it will be the duodenal switch. I'm scared but hoping this is the last surgery I will need to successfully control my weight.
I was diagnosed with a slipped band in 2015. In my case my band was too tight. When I ate food it sat on top of the band so my stomach came up through the band into my esophagus to digest the food. The doctor immediately removed the fluid in the band. I was told my band had to be removed. No other option but that.
A year ago I had my band removed and revised to RNY. I feel great with this change. No more food getting stuck and no more throwing up. I've even gotten off the acid reducer I'd been on for years.
Sorry for the slip and good luck in your decisions ahead.
