Topic: RE: Help - LapBand Slip and Chest Pain

Brighteyes62 I started having chest pains yesterday at work and trouble breathing. Ems was called and today I followed up with my doctor who is referring me to a cardiologist Monday although the ecg the ems and she did were ok. I have concern that this could be from my lap I received 11 years ago. It has caused nothing but pain for me but yesterday was different it wasn't the normal stuck feeling or shoulder pain. Have you been able to get an answer for your issues?

There are a few good books on amazon, I learned how and what to eat. I also saw a nutritionist which told me the same things I had read. best of luck.

Topic: How long did it take to get restriction.

I feel like a late bloomer. I am 9 months into my lap band journey I have not lost any weight I have gained 4lbs in the last 3 months. Went in for my 5th fill today I have 7.5cc in my 10 cc realize band. I started this journey at 225 pre-opt and lost 55lbs before surgery and have not lost anything in 9 months. Seems like this is taking forever has anyone else taken this long to get restriction or even begin to loose weight?

Topic: What do I do now?

I have a lapband I got in 2004. I have never used it. Never had a fill. I am now going to be getting my fills. I didn't think I would ever be able to get them so I gave up. Now im 48 and need a hip replacement that they wont do until I lose like 200 pounds. Not being able to exersize or move much is a big problem with that. I have never been to any classes and really cant afford to go to them because it is a 100 mile rt for me to the closest one. I don't know ANYTHING about this. It is like having a new sports car you can't drive but atleast you have it. I won my band off the internet so getting it was kinda different than most of yall who self pay or used insurance and saw doctors. I didnt get to do that.  How do I learn to eat now? I dont even know the questions to ask really because like I said I gave up but all of a sudden I have been blessed with being able to get them.

So sorry about your erosion issue.  If it's any help, last year my surgeon told me that revision from the band to thee sleeve usually will bring more weight loss.  This revision would also eliminate the many issues that come with our beloves band.

Jean McMillian, author of the book for lapband patients Bandwagon, had a band to sleeve revision.  She LOVED her band.  She may have some additional insight.

Take care.

I had severe GERD and a band beginning to erode into the stomach. I had it removed and now have MGB. Best decision ever.

It is nice to know I am not the only one who felt the anxiety.

Topic: RE: Researching the Sleeve? Early and Late leaks CAN and DO happen

I'm sorry she is suffering and hope she heals quickly.

I'm curious who her surgeon was, and how experienced they are and what their record is. I'm surprised they gave her xarelto with a freshly cut up stomach. Leaks can happen, but you are (or certainly should have been) leak tested before ever leaving the hospital post op. Xarelto is counter indicated for many stomach and intestinal issues, and if I were you, I'd consult with a medical professional that is not associated with that surgeon.
