Hi I am glad to her you are changing away from the lap..would you consider no band or VSG? just wondering if the time you have had the band might help you do without surgery to manage eating?
I am sorry to heard you had issues!..I recall we had 2 fancy pants MDs come up and really PUSH the idea of lapland back in 2002 in our (remote) area (we'd be a captive audience, us country bumpkins) ...I listened to what they said, but they really dismissed issues like: if the fill is too much (some people could not swallow their own saliva!) or rice getting stuck ( answer: never eat rice) and I just felt is was not a solution I could choose and feel safe with.
wishing you smooth sailing on the next surgery. and real enjoyment of good proteins after.
I am having VSG the end of September. I am having my lapband removed and the sleeve done the same time. I would have had the sleeve done 9 years ago but, insurance did not pay for the sleeve back then. I do read your menus everyday and I am getting excited to be able to eat dense protein in the future. I still can't eat dense protein without getting stuck.
Thanks,
Nancec

I have had my Lap-Band since March 2007 with no complications. I've lost 123 pounds and kept it off. It still gives me a notice when to stop eating. I would recommend having instant grits that you can add scrambled eggs and cheese to soon after surgery. That was my first meal of choice. Also ate a lot of homemade custard, cottage cheese and egg salad. Hope this helps.
At 10 plus years out I'm able to eat bread, rice, pasta, meat etc. I just have to remember to eat small bites, eat slowly and chew completely.
There appears to be two doctors in Federal Way, WA, but understand no all doctors will do fills on folks that had their surgery in another country.
Good luck to you as many doctors in the US no longer perform the lap band due to long term complications and that means they also no longer perform fills.
Here are the two doctors.

Do anyone know of a low cost fill center in Illnois where I can get fluoroscopy fill so my band be looked at?
I was banded 9 years ago. Last year I had a fill of 1/4 cc in April everything was fine until around the middle of May. I started to vomit unable to hold food down or fluids by June I was dehydrated week and unable to function. I went back to the doctor and he removed 3/4cc of the fluid from my band. In between July and January I receive 2 1/4cc of fill and was great. In February 2017 I received a 1/4cc at a weight of 175 seven days later I was 160 and dehydrated. Had to have the fluid removed. I am back into the doctor in a couple of days and am afraid to get a fill but I need one and I want to know what is wrong that my band seems to tighten up after a few days. I am going to just use protein shakes for about a week or two and see if that helps unless someone else has suggestions.
Thanks much.

I had my lap band surgery in Mexico. Can someone tell me where the fill centers are near Federal Way Wa?
Does anyone know where a lap band fill center is in the Federal Way area?
