My band was removed after 6 years and I presented with a very severe infection. It was a port infection and was removed immediately. I am wondering what to do next. That was 6 months ago and I am gaining weight but my BMI is only 32.4

Youngmi could you please elaborate on the lapband falling apart issue? I have been considering getting mine removed. Not sure if I'd revise to VSG or just be done with bariatrics (I still have 100 lbs to lose). I have minor issues ... hard hiccups and BAD muscle cramps around my port when I do certain exercises/stretches. I feel like my band is a ticking time bomb... I feel like it's only a matter of time before it starts to give me hell. But then I find myself thinking I'll be fine with it because mine is empty and has been for years.
What sucks is even though it's empty I still have issues eating certain foods. Like lean chicken.
I agree, the band shouldn't even be done anymore.
it is appalling that surgeons like that get to keep their licences.

I hope she is able to get a revision. She wants the band removed, but fearful of the weight coming back. She is going to see my potential surgeon (not her original lap-band surgeon) for his opinion. They both work for the same medical group, but her surgeon worked at his own regional office and really does his own thing, whi*****ludes still offering lap-band procedures and treating his patients like crap if they have complications. The surgeons out of the main weight loss clinic are much more professional and totally against the band procedure.
there is a lawyer in Canada trying to start a class action...there is a reason there can't be one in the US. Something about how it was released indemnifies them from lawsuits. there was a post on it on the failed lap band page on facebook.
