Topic: RE: Lapband appt after 5 years

Hi hope all has gone well with your appointment. I have a lap band, did not lose all of my weight, never followed through with my appointments. Shame on me, just wondering how your appointment went and are you on the road to weight loss again. I just open this website after it looks like 6 years. I too want to go to the doctor to get an adjustment to finally start losing weight again I don't know where to begin. I still have restriction and have to be very careful what I eat and how I eat it. Wish you much success

Thank you both for your posts, I've been suffering such embarrassment and keeping it from my husband who is curious as to why I've been sleeping in my bra and underpants stuffed with paper towels, in vain may I add does it have to be white vinegar? Also does it have to be done only at night? Thank you both again keep you fingers crossed, hugs Lillian

Topic: Want Lap Band Removed!!

Hi it's been years since I posted here...

Long story short I had my lap band surgery in 2008 - never been very successful...had fills, unfills, tried many different things, I've thrown up and sip up for years and honestly I'm just tired of it!! I cant get eat solids a lot of times...even when I drink something hot. It's not worth the struggle....

Anyway, just wondering if anyone here is in the same situation? I am NOT knocking this surgery - it just has not worked for me!

My insurance no longer covers weight loss surgery so I'll be a self pay to have it removed. I live in Georgia and would love to hear from anyone in area that could recommend their surgeon.

Thank you all in advance

Topic: RE: Band is finally out! Revision in 3-4 months

I had my band from '05 to '15 and had to have it removed due to it slipping. I'm 3 years out and up 50 lbs. I'm having a hard time being approved for the sleeve.

Did you have any problems with your insurance company?

Thanks in advance!

Let me give my history....had lapband in 2008, it slipped in 2012 and I had it fixed. Well I woke up yesterday with a feeling of a lump in my throat. I went to my general practice dr and she ordered an x ray of thyroid and upper gi. My lapband dr couldn't get me in until Friday (go figure). But does having a lump in my thoat sound like a possible slip? It's at the bottom of my thoat at my esophagus? My thyroid numbers are always good and my thyroid wasnt enlarged. What do you all think? Oh I havent had a fill in over 2 years

the feeling of having a lump in your throat can occur from reflux.

Best of luck to you, Michele. I hope the scope went okay. Are you considering having the band removed, even if revision is not an option? I understand the being tired of reflux and throwing up. I went through it, too, and it's miserable.

Check in if you're able and let us know how you're doing. I hope you'll feel better soon.

I just visited my surgeon the day after memorial day about lap band to gastric bypass revision.

First thing mentioned was I have not been to office in 10+ years. I felt nothing more could be done.

I have terrible reflux and I'm tired of throwing up.

Revision does not seem to be on the horizon.

Going down my throat on Monday and back to the Dr in July.

Feeling depressed ?
