Topic: Did You Know? You Can Submit Your Before And After Photos?

Hi Everyone

Nothing inspires us more than scanning through before and afters photos.  When I was considering my surgery once I got through viewing the before and afters I believed I could do this. Whenever I had doubts I would view the before and afters and came away saying "YES I CAN"!

Please share Your Journey with us and submit  your before and after photos.  Be sure and sign and fax in the photo permission form so we can share them on our blogs and articles.

If you are a VET, we would love to update your before and afters

Topic: RE: 5 YR OUT LOOSING HAIR NOT WEIGHT

Why would the band make you lose hair? There are two reasons for hair loss after weight loss surgery. One is the anaesthetic, and that doesn't wait 5 years to kick in; the other is dramatic weight loss which you say you haven't had. Unless you are unable to eat and so are totally malnourished - but then you would have lost weight!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Cutiecat, twice in my almost 9 years, I have had a tiny amount of saline removed because, it was assumed, of scar tissue build up. Each time just 0.1 cc was taken out and everything was fine. The iast time was over two years ago,

Topic: RE: 13 YEARS!

I do think education is key, and we have to act as our own healthcare advocates. My problem is my band feels tighter (I vomit a lot more and have developed severe anemia also) in the last year (since a bout of bronchitis and wretching coughs), but I am having trouble getting seen since my surgeon is no longer available and seems noone wants to touch the work of another surgeon. I feel stuck.

agreed! It's hard to explain to people why you haven't lost much weight when you are having trouble eating. They think that's a bonus for weight loss, but in my case what it means is I have trouble eating healthy foods. The tightness of my band allows sugary  or highly processed foods (if I go slowly) since they break down immediately. However, the healthy stuff like fruits, veggies and meats are extremely hard to do some days. Especially prior to dinnertime my band is too tight for solids, and by the time it loosens enough to eat, I want to eat whatever I know I can get down easily and quickly because I'm HUNGRY. (I try to make that things like cottage cheese and yogurt, but get bored and move on to ice cream, etc at times.)

Thank you for that information about the scarring causing the band to tighten. I've noticed in the last year or so that my band seems much tighter (after a bought of bronchitis) and I vomit a lot more. I didn't realize that it may be scar tissue building up. I just thought I was being more careless than usual with my chewing or food choices, though even pills and beverages are more difficult now. I will seek treatment now.
