Thanks. I have notified True Resuls that I will not be having surgery at this time. I will be doing more research and talk with other doctors before I do anything.

I only ever lurk on this board (like I do for all except the RNY and general discussion board), but I had to jump in. I know a few people who had the band in 2007-2010...2 have had it removed, 1 is on her way there, and 1 hasn't had any complications but has gained everything she lost (plus more). My own surgeon won't do the band anymore, and said he stopped when it got to the point that they were taking more out due to complications than they were putting in. There's a group on here dedicated to failed bands. There are some members here who are very happy with their bands and have gone 10+ years without complications, but it is a very high risk. Personally I wanted the sleeve, but my surgeon told me that wasn't a good option because of my acid reflux, so I'm planning on the RNY now. Good luck to you whichever route you go, and just make sure you get your info from reliable sources!
There was one other successful BOB on this LB Forum. She was deliriously successful and happy until she was not. She had her band removed in an extreme emergency situation. She later got to revise her RNY to a DS. She almost died. I found her again on the Pro Boards. I can't write that name here. But yeah, she was first then Heather and I believe there was communication between the 2.
They may not do a DS in Charlotte - hell they don't do RNY to DS revisions mostly nowhere. You have to find one of the few select expert surgeons to do that conversion.
Forget the incisionless tightning procedures - they do not work - ROSE, Stophamyhx (however it is spelled). They are always coming up with a new name - throwing in staples, sutures, or clips. Whatever, it has not worked. Hmmm the POSE results are still up in the air???
Your other option is to not have surgery at all. Can you track you calories and exercise - yeah I know but no matter what we have to do it anyway.
I wish you well.
Layla
Thank you for your response. I will definitely be checking out other doctors.

I'm pretty well convinced that many surgeons will tell you their surgery will make your poop not stink if it's what gets you to have their surgery.

I just got completely unfilled on Monday. It was a little too tight for too long and I just need a break to reset my brain and re-learn how to eat. Wasn't able to eat lean protein, many raw veggies etc. for a long time. I have a lot of reasons for going empty. I really want the band OUT. But that's beside the point.
Anyway, in the last couple of days I've noticed that I'm burping up a lot of acid.
I didn't even know that I had a hiatal hernia until I had my band surgery and they repaired it. That was 5 years ago. But after the surgery I did notice that I never had reflux, even if I ate spicy foods.
But now it's pretty much constant. I'm not surprised if it came undone, considering the number of times I've gotten stuck and made myself throw up in the last two years. I'm also not surprised that I didn't notice any reflux until now because my band never allowed me to burp... and now the acid is coming up whenever I do burp. But it's weird because I don't have that burning feeling in my chest like I have heartburn.
Any advice or experience would be appreciated. I suppose if it's come undone I will have it repaired when I have my band removed (not in the foreseeable future since I'm self-pay).
Oh NO not True Results please find an actual bariatric surgeon not that group they are all over the internet with hundreds of complaints about horrible aftercare, they basically are done with you once they get your money. Google True Results scams or complaints! They have a horrible reputation, they are basically a band mill that just churns out bands and then leaves you to hang. I know several people who started with them and ended up having to get a new doctor when they had any problems with the band, TR would just keep filling and unfilling them when they should have been removed! If you absolutely insist on a band please find a bariatric surgeon they are behind every bush in Texas they're everywhere down there! I might add that even the Mayo Clinic who is one of the very best medical facilities in the country won't even do bands in anymore because of the ineffectiveness and complications from bands. Myself I'm a full year out from having mine removed and like Nic still have horrid GERD that comes clear up into my mouth burning blisters on the skin in my mouth. So I would suggest you look into other forms of surgery because the damage done by the band is often life long!! Good luck to you!
I've never met anyone who had reflux and then had it resolve after banding. It always gets worse. (I was banded in 2003. I've watched people suffer from band complications. Myself included. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, personally.)
