Totally agree with the rest of the ladies, you just had major surgery!!! For heaven's sake take the pain meds they won't hurt you and they will certainly help you. You paid for them, use them! Your body needs rest and the meds help with that, the more pain you are in the harder it is for your body to heal because it's busy trying to calm down the pain instead of doing the healing it needs to do. So go, right now and take your pain meds, you won't turn into a blithering maniacal, addict taking them for a few days. You will feel better soon.

Take the pain meds.  There's nothing noble or heroic about suffering.

Having knives stuck into you, your organs handled and then stitches put in tends to hurt for a few days! I was one if the lucky ones and never even needed pain medicine but it us going to take at least a few days. Just take it easy and in a couple of days you will feel fine!

but if you have gas pain, moving as much as you can helps.

You had surgery YESTERDAY? Well, you had a bunch of hole*****hed through skin and muscle which were subsequently stitched back up.

Yeah, you're having post surgical pain. It's gonna last more than 24 hours. Take the pain meds - that's what they're for. If it's gas pain you're feeling, try to get up and move around as much as possible. That will help.

i just got my lap band done on 4/16/15 and the fist day wasn't bad but today I feel like I've been hit and then run over twice. How long before the pain becomes mild. I've been up walking as much as possible and trying not to take the pains mess but I broke down and took two today.

Topic: RE: Leak, tilted port or what ???

Unfortunately Hislady is correct. I am not a doctor and so am only reporting what I have read on here but, from that, erosion does not always show on a barium swallow. The band can eat into the tissue without slowing the speed at which the barium passes. Unlike slips which almost always cause tightening, erosion can cause a loss of restriction which obviously doesn't slow the movement of the barium.

Tilted ports are not uncommon but I have no personal experience.

i assume your issue is a lack of restriction? And that the doctorcannot access the port to either check saline levels or add more?

i do, however, have experience of a leak. But that can only be ascertained by injecting dye into the port.

I know people who have had every test imaginable that said no erosion only to find when they get inside that it has indeed eroded. It could just be tilted or it could be slipped or scar tissue build up. It is good to test but until they actually get inside there is not way to know for sure.

May I ask why you got yours removed and did you go the sleeve? I am having problems now, maybe a leak but thinking about removal

Thanks for any help or advice

I have gained 17 lbs since I lost my restriction and that makes me very very nervous !!

So I went and had a barum swallow to test for erosion and good new - no eroded band!!!

I am seeing my dr that banded me on Monday to test for a leak - the Dr that did the barrum swallow said he thought the port was tilted a little bit and that he could not get the needle in.

Could it be that there is no leak and they just haven't had the needle in right ?

Has anyone had a titled port ?

That's OK, Nic!  Realise you weren't aiming at me! It was the last poster who highjacked it by apparently not realising I wasn't asking how long the band lasted but asking WHERE it was stated.
