Topic: Need some guidance...

So I had Lap Band in 2006.  I lost 60 lbs, and have maintained that loss until recently.  I never met my goal (would like to lose another 20-30lbs).  Anyway...I've always had my band a bit on the tighter side.  I'd say over the years I've managed to eat a little bit more than normal but have maintained my loss.  Sometime around Dec 14 and Jan 15 I've noticed a drastic change in how my band feels/works.  I had reflux pretty bad and was on medication, it's not completely gone.  I don't ever feel full.  I actually get hunger pains (although I haven't had any since I had the surgery).  I can eat a lot now, although I try not to.

I went to my doctor to express my concerns.  We even set up a floro fill to see if there were any leaks.  He saw nothing unusual.  He says I just probably need to be filled.  I don't think that's it.  I'm not sure he's hearing me...I mean how can I feel one way and then like a light switch it's totally different.

I'm really frustrated but not sure where to go from here.  Filling my band just isn't working.

Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen?  Did you find out what was wrong?  How did you resolve it?
Thanks!

Topic: THURSDAY GRATEFUL POST

Good Thursday Everyone,

Hope your having a great week. Mine is so so. Everyday of our life we ALL have so very much to be grateful for everyday. Life offers us NO guarantees. Today I am grateful for God allowing me to wake up this AM to a soft rain that happened during the night even though I got a text from the city at 3:30 AM that we were under severe thunderstorms....we had no thunder at all. Grateful for my WLS, my family, friends, faith, hope for a great future for my 3 sons and my precious granddaughters. Grateful for life and that I can move, walk, and that I have lots of energy since my WLS almost 10 yrs. ago. Grateful to God for all the changes in my life....some good and some very very painful....I know that God has a reason for those painful changes and even though I am not happy with them....I know that he will turn them into something beautiful. Grateful for my OH Support Group which I need to get back on track with and for all my supportive friends. PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today and have a blessed day !!!

Hi Crystsl. glad to hear it is still good for you!

I dont think anyone ever doubted the physical band can last a lifetime.  Many say, as you do, that the time the band is IN the body is a very different issue.  I was just trying to find out if the statement made so very often on here that the manufacturers themselves say it will have to be removed after ten years was true - not the statement being true but the fact the manufacturers said it! I e-mailed Allergan and they replied that they had never said it.

A couple of people (whom I have no reason at all to doubt)  have said they read it prior to getting their (non-band) surgery, back as far as 2003.  But interestingly, no-one (even the most bitter  ex-banded person) ever pointed out this statement until maybe around 2009 or later and when people started quoting it, they always said that "even the manufacturers *now* say this".

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I actually do believe the Bands are built to live through the next ice age.  But what is the problem here is that some people's body's are just not able to live with the band inside them.  Almost like they are rejecting the band.  There are some people that are very compliant and still not able to lose weight or tolerate the band.  I feel bad for them.  I am among the lucky....6 years and going strong.  185 lbs lost and still maintaining.

Topic: WEDNESDAY GRATEFUL POST

Good Wednesday to everyone,

I am grateful everyday that God has allowed me to open my eyes and have another day on this earth. You know the older I get I truly know that life is what WE make it. Our choices in this life are OURS !!!! We can't blame our mother, father, brother, sister or spouse for our choices. WE are the only one responsible for them. That being said....if we have a gain....we are the only one to gain or this statement can apply to any other part of our life besides weight loss. Today I am grateful for a decent nights sleep in about a week or more, grateful for God in my life and the strength that I draw from knowing him. Grateful that the stress in my life is beginning to lift....not fun at all living stressed out all the time due to situations in your life that pretty much almost make you a non-functioning person. Grateful for my 2 granddaughters and the joy that they bring to my life. I had a new granddaughter born 3-21. Grateful that my newest granddaughter is nursing better since she had a procedure done on her mouth monday and that yesterday her mouth wasn't quite as sore or swollen. Grateful for Obesity Help and all the wonderful people on all their boards and always here for others giving support and much needed advice. Grateful for my family, friends, church, God and my support group and the ones that I attend. Grateful for you *****ad my post whether you respond or not. PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today and have a super blessed day.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Topic: TUESDAY GRATEFUL POST

Good Tuesday Everyone,

I would like to apologize to everyone for being MIA. This seriously hasn't been a good year for me. I'm dealing with more than anyone should have to in their personal life. I've got to get back to posting and doing positive things in my life and kick all the negative things to the curb. A little about what I've been going through....not going into details but I will touch on my 2015 so far. My middle son ( he's a adult has some MAJOR issues that has been rocking my world and NOT in a good way )....I've gone on 2 cruises since Jan.....came back from last one and I had a 2nd granddaughter born waiting for her Mimi and Pawpaw to get back. Last week issues arouse with my middle son that I'm having to deal with but not for long.....had enough of his messes he keeps getting himself into. My hubby had open hernia surgery almost 2 weeks ago and my new granddaughter has had issues with nursing and had minor lazier surgery yesterday. SO as you can see....life has been pretty unkind to me this year. I am still GRATEFUL everyday because I know that God is with me and promises he won't give me more than I can take. Today I am so grateful for waking up.....for God in my life and that he is always there for me. Grateful for my husband of 38 yrs. and my family. Grateful that I feel like God is about to do a amazing work in my middle son's life. Grateful for my heath and my faith. PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today and please keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers as we deal with what life seems to throw at us. God bless you and have a blessed day !!!
