Hello,
I have an appointment on June 19th 2015. I'm kind of excited and nervous at the same time. I hear some many positive and negative of the lapband. That is making me change my mind. The reason why I'm interested in having a lapband surgery is because I'm diabetic, high blood pressure and I'm over weight. I'm so tired of taking so many pills and injecting myself. Like I said I'm very confused now please help and thank you In advance.

Thank you for bumping this thread. I'm not around here that often but I still want to inform others of how dangerous the Lapband really is.
In the last 2 years since the last post on here there are more and more reports of esophageal damage including total loss of ability to swallow. Some have even lost their entire stomachs because of damage from the lap band.
Another very serious issue that is being reported is a huge increase in gastroparesis, which is slow stomach emptying and causes horrible pain in the stomach and lower intestines on a daily basis.
Some have been too damaged to even be able to be revised and have just had to settle for having the band removed. The saddest thing of all is that there are still so called doctors putting bands in when they have taken an oath "to first do no harm". I can only hope that one day these manufacturers will have to pay for all the damages they have done to us all!
Congrats on your weight loss. If you are getting too skinny, your surgeon has to take out fluid and you will regain just a little. Good luck with your journey. Mona

Whatever you do, do NOT go to Dr. Pilcher in San Antonio. He cut a hole in my stomach by accident, removing my band. Terrible aftercare, as in non existent....
We lived in Seguin, between Austin and San Antonio. Whatever you do...do NOT use Dr. Pilcher. He is the doctor that cut me. The reflux was so bad for me that I was afraid to sleep. I was sleeping sitting straight up in bed, the best I could anyway. This didn't stop the reflux though. As soon as I fell asleep, I was having sever reflux, repeatedly. This lead to a stricture in my throat. I have gained a lot of weight back since losing the band. I had lost all the weight I wanted to, and then this happened. I don't know what to do now. It is hard to think about going through all of this for nothing. They have determined I have a hernia due to surgical injury. I have to have that repaired, but need to lose weight again, or there is a high chance of it returning. What a cluster f*ck.

I've lost 100 pounds AND kept it off for 8 years since I was banded and I'd take it all back if I could have my health back.
