Kate was such a neat lady. She was always so supportive. I will miss her. The site won't be the same without her.  Mona

This is such sad news.  I have only been coming to Obesityhelp for a few months, but in that short time I had grown to admire Kate for her wisdom, her integrity  and her willingness to give an encouraging word to one and all.

My  condolences to her family and friends.

This hurts like hell.

I too agreed to disagree with Kate in regards to Lapband issues but, I recognized that she was a valuable asset to this forum.

She will be missed♡♡♡

It is with a very sad heart that I inform you all that we lost Kate to a heart attack over the weekend. She has been a constant on this forum since before I came and that was many long years ago. I believe Kate was going on close to 10 yrs (if not longer) with her band and while we disagreed about the band we were still able to remain friends all these years. We were able to agree to disagree yet be friends which makes her an extraordinary friend!!

I know her knowledge of band life and her experiences with it will be greatly missed here. There are very few vets still here that have been banded that long and had so few problems. Her knowledge was an asset to all and will be sorely missed. So take a minute friends and say a little good bye to our True Brit! Feel free to add to the post and remember the good or bad times with out Miss Kate!

I was told after having a colonoscopy and telling the doc that i take too much immodium for the Diarrhea I have because of Diverticulos.  He said take medimucil which has really helped.  But i have been having a little problems with Reglux and esophagus is mildely extended.  I was told the last time this happen that it was the meds I was taking were too acidic so I chew them now.i was wondering if the Medimucil was causing this. I hope not because it really has stopped the Diareaha

Update:

Had the Upper GI.  I have a prolapsed stomach or basically a band slip.  I'm scheduled to have the band removed on Tuesday.  I have a lot of mixed feelings.  I had hoped if it was removed I'd be offered another option.  The doctor said he didn't feel comfortable doing a conversion until the stomach heels from this event. I'm so happy to finally be done with this thing but on the other hand I know without it, I'd probably have continued on the path I was on and be much heavier.  I'm scared once I'm not throwing up 1/3 of my food I'll gain back the little I've kept off (25 lbs.)

Wish me luck on Tuesday.

Bridget,

The lovely thing is that you can still follow the rules.

Crystal,

Congratulations. Like you -I am wanting to meet my goal weight. I have been there and am ready to go back. I have 30 lbs to lost to get to 145. I appreciate your message that even after 6 years you can start losing weight again. I need to join those ranks.

So interesting. VSG board so much more active.

Still struggling with the reflux/regurgitation. Had really long conversation with my Dr. about it this afternoon as he removed 1/4 tsp of saline today. We talked about hormone changes in a day and how they impact the vagus nerve. The fact that I have a high pressure band means that the stimulation on the vagus nerve early in the morning is probably triggering the reflux. Really interesting theory about why this happens to bandsters. So, he removed a tiny amount. If that works, great. If not tomorow he will remove a tiny bit more. He is pretty dedicated to helping me find my sweet spot. Need to get more protein but my restriction is really good right now. I definitely can eat but maybe only about 2 oz of protein and 1/2 c veggies at a time. So, I added protein shake this morning and will add a protein shake tomorrow. I feel really good today and hope that night time is fixed.

I am probably just talking to myself on this forum! Am okay with that - but just had to note that I am already down two lbs. Only 30 more to go.
