Topic: RE: Year Eleven And Still Happy With My Band

I'm so sorry that both people who answered had band failures.  The fact that nothing has changed merely means that the people with revisions, and/or bad band experiences, still frequent the lap band forum.  I question why?  I left because of people putting the band down that had gone on to a revision, or had a horror story.  I feel terrible for anyone that it didn't work for, but why are you still on the lap band forum?  My answer would be that you are trying to convince people not to get it.  I just wanted to speak for myself.  I have never had a problem.  My endoscopy shows the band in great condition, and it's never been too tight, which causes it to embed in your stomach.  I think people who have another surgery should be posting on that forum, and not here trying to talk people into not having lap band surgery.  It does work for a lot of people, and I'm one of them.  Like I said, the horror stories are the reason I left.  I would get a lap band all over again if I had too.

There comes a time when you have to move on.  Everyone's experience is not the same.

That is great that your band has not caused you any issues and I wish you continued success.

Unfortunately the naysayers you say not to listen to have had serious issues with their bands through no fault of their own.  I myself had to have mine removed due to constant pain and heartburn.  This was after all my fluid was removed.  When I went in for my revision it was found that I had scar tissue that had encased my port, tube and band.  It took my surgeon over an hour to chisel my band out.

I personally would never recommend the lap band to anyone there are to many long term complications that arise and some people can never have another WLS due to the damage the band has done.

It really isn't fair to say naysayers are a dime a dozen and very unhappy people because of their band.  There may have been some that never followed the plan and blame the band, but a good majority of the people that had the band removed had complications that could not be fixed without having the band out.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE FOR TODAY.......It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. - Alan Cohen

Sorry but I'm not able to enjoy MY life because the lap band ruined my stomach and left me with permanent damage.

Hi, Kate!  Stick with it.  I am trying to lose my last 4 pounds, when I do so I will be 150 lbs.  They say at 5' 5 1/2" I should weigh 130 lbs pounds but 150 lbs is where I would feel most comfortable.  At 154 lbs, I am already a size 8.  Don't give up you will get there again!

Topic: WEDNESDAY GRATEFUL POST

Good Wednesday Everyone,

You know what.....life is FULL of CHOICES that we have to make everyday of our life. Sometimes we make really great choices and sometimes our choices bomb. I personally I am so grateful for those choices. Sometimes I make good choices...sometimes amazing and sometimes the totally stink. But I have to own the choices that I've made. Just felt like someone besides myself needed to hear this today. We need to learn to LOVE ourselves...not beat ourself up for past choices. I've been on a emotional roller coaster due to choices that a family member made that affected MY life. I strayed from what I knew I should have been doing on my WLS journey and as a result.....I gained some weight back. I'm still struggling to get back on track....I know I will be successful but it might take some time for me to totally wrap my mind around what I need to do and embrace it. I am so thankful that I have a choice and that my TOOL of choice still works. I am so grateful for choices today....my family and friends....grateful that my son did finally decide to get help for his issues that were totally destroying my family.....grateful for God in my life and faith in all the promises that he's given us. Grateful for OH and all the support and encouragement here on these forums. Grateful for you *****ad my sometimes rambling posts. PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today and have a super blessed week.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
