I am happy for you and encouraged by your success (But I have much empathy for those who have not had your positive outcome). I don’t know where I’m going to fall. I had lap band surgery June 16 (with no restriction), and I had my first fill, 3cc, about a week ago. I have been losing weight because of dieting, but I am constantly looking for food and have had several mini binges. I don’t know if this is because I’m not yet adequately filled or if I’m doing something wrong. I have had tremendous pain when I’ve eaten too fast. But sometimes, I don’t know if I’ve eaten too fast or if I am experiencing this new “full” feeling. What does “full” feel like? Is it like the pain from eating too fast? Or is it what comes right before the pain? Or, is it different? I know from many years of past experience that I won’t be able to keep dieting forever, and I’m so worried because the band doesn’t seem to be helping . Thanks very much, CSG_61615
I totally agree with Hislady. This is a medical emergency and needs to be removed or fixed. The hospital and doctor have to take care of this regardless of ability to pay. Your daughter can get into serious trouble if this isn't taken care of. Let us know what happens. Mona
the hospital has to do the surgery,IF it is life threatening when she is seen in the er. The doctor does NOT have to do the surgery if he chooses not to.
My doctor once said to me that if I go to the emergency room with a gallbladder attack (I was asking about gallbladder but this may help you too) then they would have to pay for it because its life threatening. If I am just discomforted then its "elective". Hmmm...so perhaps she can get a doc to say its life threatening and then insurance would pay not as bariatric surgery but as prevention of a life threatening issue? Get another opinion with another doctor. Some docs are better at getting insurance to pay than others.
I wish her well!
they would have to pay for gallbadder because it is a covered surgery.
They DONT have to pay for ANYTHING,life threatening or not,if it is not a covered benefit.
The hospital HAS to do the surgery,if it is life threatening at the time the person is seen in the ER,but insurance can legally refuse payment for it,period,if it is not a covered procedure.
You shouldn't be back...comments UNDERMINING those who have had problems were totally NOT necessary to you saying you LOVE your band...maybe in reality it's YOU who are very unhappy in your life #carryon

My dr. told me that the tube can develop scar tissue and pulling can cause pain. Also he said as the port ages and we loose weight and our bodies change it can cause the sutures around the port to be loose. Mine would feel like it was popping out of place and my tube hurt like a hernia when I did yoga or sat wrong.
When I had my anchor TT he changed the port to a new lower profile one and moved the tubing. I am all good now.

Mine would move a lot! I had my band placed 10/2006 and the port settled at my button of my pants and if i did certain yoga poses it hurt like a hernia! My surgeon told me the scar tissue around the tube could pull and I could actually feel the port move around. He told me that as your body changes and fat moves around sometimes the sutures around the port become loose causing it to move.
When I had my anchor tummy tuck they moved my port and replaced it with a newer lower profile one, it is amazing! It barley sticks out and only once in 6 months have I felt it.
The only down side is they had to empty my band to replace it so I was worried I would not find my sweet spot again but I did and I am back to loosing.
Good luck!

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
I would guess the tubing is pinching or rubbing on a nerve. As long as you aren't in pain it will probably wait until you get settled but please do try to find a doc when you get moved. It is really important that you have somebody to handle issues when they pop up and trust me they will eventually. It can take awhile to find a new doc so don't put it off!
Hi all,
I had my Realize band placed in 2010 and have been very fortunate, as in no real problems that I'm aware of (yet). But for the last year every once in a while, it feels like the port and/or band are moving. Several weeks ago as I sat up in bed I swear it felt like it flipped. No pain, but just the most bizarre sensation. The last few days, I've had a sensation of something moving in my mid and lower abdominal cavity. And no, I'm not pregnant. :)
If I lay down on my left side (where my port is) it becomes uncomfortable and the area where my port is, as well as some area below it, becomes numb.
I live several states away from my surgeon, so I do not currently have a relationship with a bariatric surgeon to check this out, and since there's no pain, no vomiting, no ER-worthy "problems"--just odd sensations--I'm not sure how big of a concern this is? We're getting ready to move to yet another state, so I'm hoping this can wait a month until we get settled.
So my question is...is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what caused it/was it indicative of a bigger problem? Anything I should be watching for that might tip this into an ER-worthy trip?
Thank you for any help/feedback you have!!!
