Glad you are having the upper GI. I had a routine GI because I hadn't been to my surgeon in a year and I was gaining weight, had only occasional heartburn and vomited sometimes but only when I wasn'****ching what or how fast I ate so I thought.......
Come to find out I had a slight slip, dilated esophagus and a hernia (he said the band causes hernias).
I had to have it removed and I decided to revised to the sleeve.
Good luck and keep us posted!

LapBand removed, hernia repaired and sleeved 7/8/15
I had an endoscopy a few weeks ago and apparently my band has slipped. The only thing I feel is really bad heartburn. Good luck to you - I hope you get it all taken care of!
thanks thats is exactly what i feel like my surgeon is doing.. ive called a few more times and i just hear well need to wait for upper gi
Hi, you also might have a hernia that needs to be fixed. It is not normal to hurt like this. Don't let your surgeon sit on this. It needs to be taken care of. I had to have surgery because I couldnt swallow my spit. Good luck. Mona

Hi Blossomdog, I know that there are complications with any surgery. I had my surgery 13 years ago. I did have a band slip in 2003. But I have had no complications since. Don't worry until you have to. Good luck. Mona

I'll be having mine taken out on August 24th and revising to RNY! I can't wait. I've already had to have my band replaced once, and the second one has just never worked for me.

I'm having mine taken out on August 24th and revising to RNY at the same time. I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

I would seriously consider trying to get a revision approved. Yes, you wouldn't be approved for bariatric surgery if your original BMI was under 35, but you aren't seeking approval for a regular bariatric procedure, you're seeking approval for a revision due to a technical malfunction or complication. You'd have a serious chance at approval. You might have to fight for it, and possibly get a lawyer involved, but you would likely be successful. You need to see a surgeon that specializes in revisions.
