I'm confident that you'll feel better when the band is out.
You don't have any damage as far as the Vagus nerve system, right? No referred left shoulder pain?
Even if the relief isn't instant, I do believe that after you recuperate, you'll find a lessening of symptoms. Some people do have instant relief. Stay positive. I wish you the best with your upcoming surgery. I am sending you all good vibes for a good outcome!

I need my band out and i am so sick right now i can't wait to have it out.... but the anxiety i****ting me hard. having kids had changed me. getting the band in i wasn't even worried. maybe my biggest fear is i will have the band out but i'll still have the heart burn and nausea... for those who had it removed is it instant relief?
i cant wait for my surgery. I cant wait for my sleeve! but i have to wait another 6 months for that :( it will go fast! Let me know how Bobzilla works!
Hi,
I will be getting banded in September and I was hoping to hear positive stories too. Truth of the matter is, most people who have success are not likely on these forums. I have foundthat tthe only good ones I could find are mostly consultants/reps for the company. There are a few here and there that show there progress. There are some good ones on YouTube. But keep in mind many of the people may not have told everyone around them, so why would they tell the world?
That is just my expectation of the 'success ' stories. They are too busy loving their lives. Lol... Good luck!! Wish you all the best!
I had my band removed a little over 2 weeks ago and a revision to the sleeve. I really thought I would feel differently once it was out, but I dont feel much different (other than no more heartburn and gurgling after I drink or eat). Anyway, my recovery is going well. My doctor said there was a lot of scar tissue (had the band since May of 2008), and I did take the morphine they offered me in the hospital the first day, but other than that, my wounds have itched more than hurt and I have not been that sore at all. I'm really glad its out as it was doing me more harm than good and my new pal 'Bobzilla' seems to be doing his job (that's what I have named my sleeve - I'm weird and name everything).
Good Luck!
I just had my lapband removed a little over 2 weeks ago and revised to the sleeve. I know there are concerns with reflux with the sleeve, but so far I have not had any issues. In addition, I have lost weight fast (I originally weighed 250, lost 70 pounds with the band and then gained back 30 - so my current goal from my sleeve surgery weight was to lose 75 total and I've lost 16 pounds in 15 days). I would think that if you are just wanting to maintain, then the sleeve and the DS may not be for you because you may lose more than you think (unless you have more to lose), but I agree with the other posters that having another band is not ideal, because there is more risk of slippage, etc. It really is a personal decision. Good luck!
yikes! luckily my insurance is covering mine. it only costs me $370. I would think that was a default of the band or surgeon error for sure. good luck tomorrow! Let me know how it goes!
I'm having my lap band removed this Friday, 8/28/15! I haven't had any restriction for years and didn't know why...until I had to have my appendix out a couple months ago while out of town. The surgeon said the wire from the band was disconnected and the two ends were just "flopping around" in there. Went to my bariatric dr yesterday and he's removing it. I was self pay in 2008 and insurance will not pay to have it removed even though it's very dangerous and must come out. I was wondering if anyone else had problems like this. The only thing I remember about my band is it's a "V G" band. At least that's what I think it's called. Seems like a defect to me but...Costing me $4000 to have it removed!
I've been here for close to 10 years and there have been quite a few ladies who got pregnant and I don't recall any of them having any problems while carrying their babies. Now many of them had issues with the bands farther down the road such as acid and slips or erosions but that happens to a good many of us over time. Best of luck with your little one!
Congratulations! I would think that if you're checked periodically, you should be fine. If you feel anything's amiss, check with your obstetrician and band doc right away. You might notice that the band presses against the diaphragm a little more as you get further along.
Best of luck to you! I hope all goes well and you feel good throughout your pregnancy.
