Hi Brandy! I am banded 8 years and lost 90 pounds. Have about 40 more to go, maybe 45 if I pu**** I had a bout with cancer and let it slide for 2 years. Other than that I have had no problems. I love my band and it has changed my life. I got the band when it was new and first came out. I would probably opt for a sleeve if I had to choose today. But I don't! You made your decision and now relax and enjoy the journey. Bette will be along with her success story soon enough. Follow your doctors advice. Most of us long term successful bandsters are no longer on the boards. We are following each other on fb and out enjoying and living our lives. You will be doing that too. Good luck!
It's really the surgeons decision. As a long time bandster, I was NEVER asked how much of a fill I wanted. I was interviewed by the doctor. Weighed and reviewed my food journal and he always made the decision.
Hi Karen, So good to talk to you again! Are you taking small bites and chewing, chewing chewing? When I let myself get too hungry and take a big bite I get stuck and have to start all over. We are human it happens. I do remember you having this problem for a while. It took me several years to lose 90 pounds because of health issues and turning to slider foods when I was really hungry. We both had the band when it first came out and had high expectations. I would go for a sleeve now if I had to revise. Luckily I am fine so far. I believe it is all about learning to eat correctly. There are a few new procedures coming out very soon and medications too(not appetite suppressants). Keep us posted and best of luck in whatever you decide! xxooxxoo
I had my Lap-Band surgery 3/6/07. Have lost and kept off 120 pounds. Was a type 2 diabetic for 16 years before surgery and stilll am. I take Bydureon injection once a week, Metformin and Farixga daily. My HBA1C is 6.6 at present.
thanks i feel better about it! i am so ready!
i do have occasional left shoulder pain. i hadn't even heard of vagus nerve until i started the process to have it out! Thanks i feel better about it already!
I agree with Nic it may not be total relief at first but it will get better. The longer it is out the better you should feel hopefully you won't have much to deal with once it is out. You might need to do PPIs for a while after to get everything settled down again but it should stay better after that.
