Congrats on the pregnancy! Your band and port should be just fine. I was pregnant with twins with the band, they turned out to be 8 lbs and 7 lb 4 oz....no band related discomfort. I was not able to get proper restriction after though and it has been empty since. They recommended emptying it completely because it was twins and I was going to be so much bigger than a singleton pregnancy. I tried getting fills but they always resulted in unfills. Not everyone has that happen though.
Good luck!
I do remember there being a thicker fluid than saline that was used for a bit, but I can't remember the name for the life of me. I don't know if it's used to plug leaks, however. I think it probably just seeps out more slowly than saline would? I'll have to dig around and see if I can remember the name of the stuff.

Hi Jaime, congratulations on your twins!
I wonder if maybe you have some esophageal dilation happening? Or esophageal spasms? Are you experiencing left shoulder pain or pain that radiates into the left side of your neck and jaw?
Good luck... hope you're able to get the band out and feel better. Definitely get some tests done to make sure you know what's going on.

Hi All,
I haven't posted here in years, I hope everyone is well! After I had my twins 4 years ago I was never able to get my band to a good restriction. Actually it wasn't that effective before either (shocker right?). My band has been empty for several years. Lately I'm getting that feeling in my chest/throat like when you eat too fast when you have restriction, even got stuck a few times. A few days ago it happened again and now I have this constant sensation I can only describe as feeling a little hungry. I've heard horror stories about vagus nerve damage (Nic M?). I hope this isn't related, maybe it's just irritation from a dilation maybe. I will be calling a doctor but just curious if others have had a similar experience? I'm almost afraid to ask! I want this piece of crap out of my body!
I've never heard of a thicker saline either. Good luck hope they can do something for it without having to do surgery.
I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough recuperation. I hope you get some answers and feel better.

Never heard of a thicker saline for a leak. If it is a leak you may have to have a surgery to replace the tubing. What has your surgeon said regarding this? Have you been able to speak with him yet?
Well I had the band removed on the 28th of last month. OMG 4 lap incisions and 2 4 inch ones because he could not get the port out of the first one. now for the first couple weeks from surgery I was getting better but now I'm having a stabbing pain in my region of my belly button when I gave to move and OMG don't sneeze I think I have a hernia going to a DR tomorrow for now I put a large wrap around my stomach to help with the pain. I don't trust my surgeon, hopefully the other dr will help me out.
Has anyone heard of a thicker saline to plug a very slow leak. I get a fill and 4 weeks later it's gone.
I had no trouble for 7 years. Went for a small fill with a new PA, and he banged around trying to
find the port. I'm sure this is what happened. I don't want more surgery.
Have any of you tried thicker saline first?
