Hi! thanks for checking in. I am doing good. Had the removal and revision done in 1 surgery. I had a lot of nausea. That drove me crazy more than anything. I have started puréed foods and for once I am not choking my food down. It is such a relief.
Cant wait to see how this works for me.
I updated my block to include pictures from today. I also am trying Thrive for 5 days, has anyone else had any luck with Thrive? I am doing it pretty much for just an energy boost to get my butt moving and motivated.

So far, I just feel a little more alert than normal, with a tiny tiny caffeine headache (I am sometimes sensitive to caffeine).
No they are not removing the fluids every time I only had that done the very first time I went in to see if there was any fluids. When I go back on the 18th I will ask to have it removed to see and go from there. I pray there is no leak because I just got this band done four months ago.
Do they pull out the whole fill when they do your fill? That should guarantee you have the correct amount in there. If you have 7ccs in a 10cc band you should be feeling some restriction unless there is a leak in your band or tubing.
They should be able to do barium swallow to tell for sure if there is a leak. Contact your surgeon about checking for a leak. When I was at 7ccs I could barely swallow and had to have some taken out. You don't want it so tight that you are vomiting but just feeling satisfied, not stuffed feeling.

I know I am late to this conversation, but I wanted to add my 2 cents...
I was banded in 2008 and used to come to this forum a lot (under a different account, which I can't remember!). At the time I was really gung-ho. I was so excited for my tool and it was working well. I was a "rules follower" and was losing a fantastic amount of weight. I loved my band!
But all around me the forums were filling with negative people who were saying they were having problems. I was a little judgmental and assumed that those people must not be following the guidelines. That somehow it was thier own fault for the band slipping, eroding or whatever the issues were...until it happened to me, of course!!
The only thing I did "wrong" was to wait too long to get unfilled when I would inexplicably be so tight that I couldn't keep anything down. But I was a teacher and it was very hard to take a day off every time my band fluctuated and acted up. It got to the point that I vomited everything. Sometimes even water. Reflux was constant. It hurt. I was still losing weight but for all of the wrong reasons.
I know that when things are going well or you are excited about your surgery, the last thing you want is to hear other people's horror stories. It's not comforting and it certainly made me really angry when I was newly banded. But now that I have revised to the RNY, I realize what a hard path the band was, for no good reason.
I wish you all the best in your journey to choose the right surgery, and hope you find a supportive community, in whatever you pick!
Any doctor who isn't a complete bonehead will be able to figure out that a device on a person's stomach is most likely a lap band. I think you'll just have to trust the doctor-patient confidentiality in this situation.

I told him and he said it didn't matter. There are doctor patient confidentiality clauses but in this town everybody talks. I figure something out. This doctor is a chiropractor so he doesn't need to know anyway. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone to such lengths to protect their secret

Hi Karen
Just checking in on how your revision surgery went and hoping you are recovering well
I am back to fills for my band and getting some restriction now in the green zone yahoo I forgot what that was like
Karen
Hello I'm in need of help...I'm not sure if I'm at restriction yet. I have been banded since July 9 2015 and have had four fills and I am still eating normal and always thinking about food. My Allergan band is a 10cc and I am at 7cc why am I not feeling restriction by now?
She is not allowed to tell anyone but it is good to let people (especially doctors) know you have it in there.
