I've ahead my band since 12/08 it wrecked hell with my life for the past two years. Had it deflated six months ago and revolved last month. I've had dialated esophagus, multiple ulcers, gerd, reflux. Regurgitation into lungs and the list goes on. I did lose 130 pds. Gained back 35. Which revision did you get and was there a major lifestyle change from the band. I'm at the point I have to make a decision. Thanks

After I had the band removed I decided to go with the gastric bypass instead of the sleeve. I wanted to have some malabsoprtion for weight loss. I don't believe the sleeve offers malabsorption.

I was banded 6-1/2 years ago and just had a revision to the gastric this month. Having the band taken out was the best decision I made. There haven't been any long term studies on how long the band can last in the body. I haven't see any banders last longer than 10 years. The only regret I have is not having the band removed sooner. It caused me terrible pain and troubles. Best of luck to you.

I had my band put in in 2009 and I just had it removed this month. My surgeon removed the band and did a gastric bypass. Having the band removed was the best decision I ever made. After 6-1/2 years, the band caused me nothing but misery. I finally found a new surgeon who was willing to remove it. A normal 2 hour surgery took 4 hours because of all the damage the band did to my insides. My biggest regret is not having the band removed sooner and suffering for so long.
My best advice would be to find a new surgeon and have the band revised to a sleeve or a gastric. Best of luck to you.

You're definitely the longest bander I've come across. I had mine in for 6-1/2 years until recently. I had a revision this month and it was the best thing I could have ever done. The band did a lot of damage to my stomach. I'm glad you've had success with it.

I too had difficulty with the band. I recently had it revised to a gastric. My surgeon said a normal 2 hour surgery took 4 hours because of the damage from the band. I was a long term bander at 6-1/2 years. I don't know many people past the 10 year mark. That's the problem. The band hasn't been tested long term. No one knows what it does to the body long term.

I finally had my lap band removed this month after 6-1/2 years. My revision surgeon told me my port was similarly placed. I wish I could offer words of comfort, but I've had nothing but trouble with the lap band. I had the gastric bypass put in.
Yes I mean removing the band and replacing it with a sleeve, bypass, or ds
When you say revision do you mean getting the band removed or switching it for another surgery like the sleeve or bypass? I would think with severe GERD that the insurance company would cover band removal.
Darn, you've been through it. I really hope they figure all of this out for you !
