Topic: RE: Belching after a complete unfill ?

I wish I could burp!  My band has been empty since at least October , not sure when exactly since I had gone for an unfill and there was nothing to take.  I've been progressively having problems for 2years now and yesterday my doc said we are taking it out and revising to the sleeve.  Be on your doc, listen to what they say, go to the support groups. They will listen if you're trying and fighting.

Why do you want it emptied?  Are you having issues?  If you are not having problems I'd leave it until you revise imo

My doc is using my original weight to convert to sleeve.  Just waiting on insurance approval.  They started the process yesterday.

Sheri, how are you feeling today? Been thinking of you, hoping that the pain subsided at least somewhat. I hope you've gotten good news from your insurance company. Or, if you haven't, I hope it comes very soon.

If you do have a leak then you will need surgery to fix it.  If it is something more serious like a slipped band or eroded band then you will need surgery.  What ever way you look at it you will need to have some sort of surgery to fix it.  Sorry to say.

Most surgeons warn against keeping a tight band as it can lead to slippage or erosion.

Best of luck to you.

Topic: So...when should I empty my band.....

I have started the process for revision.

I initially thought gastric sleeve - then after spending many hours on this forum I thought Roux en Y

Now I have stumbled upon DS (which from what I can see if probably the best choice if doing revision from Band)

I want to get the band de-filled asap - however it may be months before I actually get my surgery done.

I don't want to gain all my weight back - as much as I hate my band - it does keep me around where I am today - and I am ok with staying here for a few more months - but am anxious to lose all the issues that come with the band.

Any suggestions or insight to this?
