Has anyone had to have the fluid removed from their bands because they got sick and had to start over?

I seem to be struggling with losing the weight again.

Have you already had it removed? All of it? Or are you having problems now  and expecting to have it removed?

The normal procedure is to just remove enough to make eating easier and at that point, losing shouid be as it was before you became too tight.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Most of it got removed a year ago, I gained 50 pounds back and now that I got my issue resolved I was allowed to have my band refilled.  I just got a refill two weeks ago and the weight is not coming off.

Do you feel you have restriction? Is your hunger being dimmed? All you can do is try to go back to the eating style which worked for you originally - after all, as we banded people know, weight loss is down to us, not the band! It's not quite as simple as this but basically, if we eat fewer calories than we use, we gave to use soured energy -fat!

My personal so method was:-

aroubd 1200 cals a day (although I didn't actually count)

healthy food choices 80+% of the time

eat a sensible amount at a meal and then walk away.

I eat about 1000 cal a day. I feel the restriction. If I over eat I get sick so I try to listen to the body.

IMO you are doing it right! Just be patient! And best wishes!!

Thank you.  I just don't remember it taking this long for me to lose a couple of pounds :-)

I'm afraid people often find it is harder to lose regain than the original weight!

I've also read where people have a harder time finding their "sweet spot" again after an infill. You can still lose it just make take a little more wor****il you find a good spot again. Just stick with your program and I know I am very sensitive to carbs myself so you might want to keep a little closer watch on those until you get back on track. Good luck!

I had the doc empty mine a few years back due to tightening and allergies. When I started having it fill again after 10 months or so I found it did not take as much fluid to get to a good restriction level for me. What I mean by restriction is not that I can't eat or it limits what I eat, but  I am not feeling hungry every hour or two. I am able to eat anything and as much as I want. I keep my band loose so I don't have issues with reflux which in return makes me half to work harder to lose or maintain my weight. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
