Hello.  Yesterday I had my lap band removed.  I had it placed 8 years ago and it changed my life...for the better.  Lost over 100 lbs.  However it had slipped and needed to come out.  I am sore which I expected but I am having some shoulder pain with I didn't expect.  Can anyone let me know if they had shoulder pain and what causes it.  Would appreciate any reply's.

Thanks

Two possible reasons. One is that we have excess gas inside us as a result of the op and this can press on the nerves which serve the diaphragm and we can feel this as referred pain as the nerve system goes that direction! And another possibility is that the slipped band has irritated the diaphragm, which might also cause referred pain.

Move as much as you can. It really helps!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Ditto what Kate said.  When I had mine and when I had it removed I had bad shoulder pain from the gas.  I would say it is normal!

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I had mine removed 0ct.22nd. I had been banded for 8 years also.I had the same pain, thought I was going to die. They told me it was gas pains.
