I totally get why you're asking.  It would suck to be 10-20 years from now and start having horrible complications but be too old to have surgery to remove it safely.  This might be a good question to ask your surgeon and maybe to do some research into lifespan of the band as well - my understanding is that it's not meant to be a permanent device.

If you are doing well, why would you get it out?

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I thnk you should have the fluid removed from the band if you were having difficulty. That would probably be all that is needed. In fact, they say it's a reason younger women who intend t have children might consider the band over other surgeries.

For me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Looks like I am the oldest,I will be 70 in July and will get a fill in 2 weeks again, had some problems with acid reflux and Dr took out all fluids and now I healed and I get my  second  fill. Had nothing in my band for 5 month and did not gain but 1 pound back.
