Lap Band on 03/27/14

Well I am four days post lap band surgery, and the clear liquids are just not doing it for me! I want real food, but got to wait another ten days for full liquid.  I would love to cheat, but I'm too much of a conformist! I'm just complaining because I'm hungry.

In no way suggesting you break rules!!! Crucial not to at this stage and your own doctor is the one to obey!!! But you might ask your medical team!  Ten days of clear liquids is unusual for banded people.  Most people are allowed things like protein shakes sooner than that.  It is quite common to be told to move on to thicker liquids ( like protein shakes) at about 3-5 days.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi Kate!

Hope all is well with you.  I am good.  I think this poster's doc may be extra careful as this is not her first banding.  Nothing like a virgin stomach for sure.

Take good care,

L

Hi Kate - I was there too!  The one thing that helped was my MD let me eat Egg Drop Soup.  I know a lot of people don't like it, but it helped me with the need to "eat" something.  It's a liquid and you have the egg as protein. It hit the spot!

Almost 4 months later I still turn to the soup when I'm craving something that I ate in my former life...

good luck!!!

Stick to your post op instructions.  Before you know it you will be able to eat real food.  For now, take advantage of this time and weight loss it allows.

Best,

L

I have to be honest, I never had bandster hell.

I visualized the band like a belt around a pair of jeans .....even if not cinched tight, it is some help.

I could diet before the band, so surely I could diet with it.

Yes, even on liquids, I could 'eat'every 2 hours to have something warm in my belly and I could distract myself from hunger with hobbies, reading, taking a bath, etc.

I could have a warm cup of tea to sooth my cravings.

You can do this ....... It is so worth it to do it right and follow the course.

Every fill, even if small, is more than you had before ....so let each small fill help you get to your goal .....keep your chin up and your eyes on the prize!!!

Thanks Kath, good advice.  I am just missing the taste and texture of real food, the shakes are getting old now!  I will follow the docs advice, I was just being a baby :)
