What doctor(s) has helped you on your WLS journey?
Drs. Santiago Horgan, Michael Baptista, and Carlos Galvani were all instrumental in saving my life when my original surgeon, James Kemmerling, chose to do little to help me. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Horgan, especially, for taking the time to do diagnostic tests and perform emergency surgery. I'm quite sure I would not be here today had it not been for his medical intervention on my behalf. Improper placement of the Lap Band caused many serious complications (such as a twisted stomach and nerve damage) and Dr. Horgan did all he could to try to remedy my situation.
Dr. Baptista was one of the most compassionate doctors I've ever met and Dr. Galvani showed the utmost concern for me, as well. I hold all three of these doctors in very high esteem.
My gastroenterologist Dr V Mohan was instrumental in referring me to Dr Carlos Pellegrini after Dr Mohan had done an EGD, GES, and esophageal manometry test showing I had 0% motility. Dr Pellegrini immediately referred me to an associate bariatric surgeon *****moved my band and the adhesions and scar tissue.
Unfortunately, my original surgeon placed my band on my esophagus, not my stomach...one of the 3% who get a misplaced band. I never stood a chance of keeping my band.
I have the utmost respect for the two doctors who, upon reviewing my surgical report and tests, told me that a grave mistake had been made.
