Band Slip...6 years later...
Trying to see if anyone out there can shed some light on my current issue.
I have been throwing up almost everything I eat (and sometimes drink) for the last 4-5 months and just had an endoscopy done this week. The GI concluded that my lap band has slipped (the image from the results shows a shockingly small opening to my stomach). I have an appointment scheduled with a bariatric specialist (I no longer live in the same state as my original surgeon) the first week of April and I'm sure that surgery will be the next step but in the meanwhile I am very impatient in finding out what my probable options are!!
Anyone out there that had a band slip years later? If so, any thoughts? Experiences? Comments? Anything haha
If you search here and the failed band group you will find many that have slipped years later. It seems to be more and more common. They will usually start by at least taking the fluid out until they can do surgery to re-position, re-place or re-move the band. Most that re-place and/or re-position the band end up with more problems.
My thought is to remove the band or be willing to live with more problems.
Agree. The first step is usually a defill to see if that sorts it out. Some surgical repositionings are successful but it does appear that second slips are more likely. But that is anecdotal - I have not seen relevant research.
