Yup. I spent one night in the hospital and haven't taken pain meds since day 5. I think I'm pretty standard!

I was a revision and I had them unhook my pain pump after a few pushes as it caused the nausea.  My sister and DD had nausea and when they removed the pain pump it stopped so I had a heads up.  I only had pain meds at the hospital, loratab, at night and just before going home.  At home I had it before bed two nights than nothing. Yep, you are pretty standard.  I was on pain meds for the band for two weeks.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

What kind of research did you do when making your decision? Why you would choose the surgery with the highest complication rate and the lowest rate of long-term excess weight loss? Just curious!

There are much better options for someone with a high BMI.

SOME people with the band don't chew there food good and don't wait 2 min. before the next bite also they over eat. Side effects is vomiting, reflex, slip band, I found that in my research. (NO EVERYBODY SOME PEOPLE DO EVERYTHING RIGHT STILL HAVE PROBLEMS) Hopefully I don't get erosion on my stomach if so I have it remove.  I'm going to following my Dr. instructions. No surgery will help me if I'm not willing to change my eating habits.

2 minutes between bites?  A bite, is supposed to be about the size of an m&m, so you'd only get 16 bites during the allowed 30 minute meal time.  Cut a piece of meat into that size, weigh it and multiply by 16.  I averaged about one bite per minute, when I could eat.  I've never heard the 2 minute rule, but it's an example of the inconsistencies between surgeons and their prescribed "lifestyle" changes.

It is your decision and I truely wish you the best of luck.

Don't be surprised if your not down the 100lbs in your first year and you don't get to your goal weight of 180lbs.   Not saying it won't happen, but be prepared if it doesn't.

I know there are some surgeons still doing the band, but so many have stopped just to many issues that come up after 5 years for their patients and they end up having the band removed.  Some can get a revision, some can not.

Even if you do lose 100 pounds, you will weigh 256.  Do you plan on getting another surgery to get down to a lower weight?

I know my first year I will get down to 250 lbs it will take me two more years to get to my goal weight. I will make the BAND work for me. I will NEVER get another weight loss surgery, I will do it right the first time.

Ummm, not to sound negative.... but I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE who gets Weight Loss Surgery done commits to "doing it right the first time". I really can't imagine anyone going in thinking they're gonna half-ass it and just get another surgery later. Sometimes there are complications that arise that have NOTHING to do with the patient's commitment  to the rules. I think everyone is just trying to point that out to you.

Yeah, what Maureen said.  I wish you the best, but as Kim says below, the odds are very much against you.  Going to You Tube, BTW is NOT research...
